Ronnie Thompson (American Football)
Ronald H. Thompson (born c. 1944) is a former American football coach. He coached for almost 40 years in the high school and collegiate ranks. Thompson graduated in 1962 from Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, Texas and went on to play at Louisiana College. After graduation, he coached at various high schools. As a young assistant coach at San Antonio Jefferson High School, he closely followed the exploits of the 1971 4A state champions Robert E. Lee High School, playing a pass-happy offense coached by John Ferrara, who in 1975 became an assistant at SMU. In 1978 Thompson installed a very similar offense at Port Arthur Jefferson High School, led by quarterback-receiver duo Todd Dodge and Brent Duhon. Port Arthur, Texas
Port Arthur is a city in Jefferson County within the Beaumont–Port Arthur metropolitan area of the U.S. state of Texas. A small, uninhabited portion extends into Orange County; it is east of Houston. The largest oil refinery in the United States, the Motiva Refinery, is located in Port Arthur. The population of Port Arthur was 53,818 at the 2010 census, down from 57,755 at the 2000 census. By 2020, its population rebounded to 56,039. Early attempts at settlements in the area had all failed. However, in 1895, Arthur Stilwell founded Port Arthur, and the town quickly grew. Port Arthur was incorporated as a city in 1898 and soon developed into a seaport. It eventually became the center of a large oil refinery network. Todd Dodge
Todd Russell Dodge (born July 21, 1963) is an American football coach and former player, and recently retired head coach at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin where he played quarterback for the Longhorns, Dodge went into coaching, primarily at the high school level. At Southlake Carroll he was head coach of four 5A state championship teams in a seven-year span. He moved on to the college level as head coach of the University of North Texas football team, but he was released after acquiring a 6–37 record. After coaching the quarterbacks at the University of Pittsburgh for the 2011 season, he returned to high school coaching in Marble Falls and Austin Westlake. Jackie Wayne Sherrill (born November 28, 1943) is a former American football player and coach. He was the head football coach at Washington State University (1976), the University of Pittsburgh (1977–1981), Texas A&M University (1982–1988), and Mississippi State University (1991–2003), compiling a career college football record of 180–120–4. Lynn Amedee
Lynn Amedee (born August 3, 1941) is a former American football player and coach. He served as assistant at nine different colleges and as head coach at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Amedee played quarterback and placekicker under coaches Paul Dietzel and Charles McClendon at Louisiana State from 1960–1962. He was not drafted in the 1963 NFL Draft but started a pro career with the Edmonton Eskimos. From 1963 to 1964, Amedee played in 16 games for the Eskimos. Over the course of the two seasons, he threw for 1,788 yards on 279 attempts with eight touchdowns. Later Amedee started a coaching career, returning to his alma mater as quarterbacks coach under head coach McClendon from 1975 to 1978.
