Ronald Vink
Ronald Vink (born April 21, 1976) is a professional wheelchair tennis player from the Netherlands. He specializes in doubles but also plays singles. Grand Slam performances Vink has reached grand slam wheelchair doubles finals, capturing his first title at the 2007 Wimbledon Championships with compatriot Robin Ammerlaan. In 2008, he successfully defended his Wimbledon Wheelchair title by defeating the French duo of Stéphane Houdet and Nicoles Peifer. In 2011 he won for the third time the final with his partner Maikel Scheffers. In singles, he has had less successes. Vink has never captured a singles title nor has he reached a final. His best effort came at the 2008 French Open, when he reached the semifinals. De Rijp
De Rijp is a village and former island in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Alkmaar, and lies about 10 km northwest of Purmerend, between the Schermer and the Beemster polders. Before the poldering of the lakes surrounding it, De Rijp was famous for its herring industry. Stefan Olsson
Stefan Olsson (born 24 April 1987) is a Swedish wheelchair tennis player. Olsson is the former world number two singles player. He has won two Grand Slam titles in doubles, the 2009 US Open and the 2010 Wimbledon titles, and two in singles, at Wimbledon in 2017 and 2018. Olsson has won both the singles and doubles events at the year end Masters and is a Paralympic champion in men's doubles. He started playing tennis at the age of seven. The 2009 US Open was a tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts, held from August 31 to September 14, 2009, in the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center at Flushing Meadows, New York City, United States. Stéphane Houdet and Stefan Olsson defeated Maikel Scheffers and Ronald Vink in the final, 6–4, 4–6, 6–4 to win the men's doubles wheelchair tennis title at the 2009 US Open. Shingo Kunieda and Maikel Scheffers defeated Robin Ammerlaan and Ronald Vink in the final, 6–2, 7–5 to win the men's doubles wheelchair tennis title at the 2008 French Open. The 2008 Australian Open was a tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts. It was the 96th edition of the Australian Open, and the first Grand Slam event of the year. It took place at the Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Australia, from 14 through 27 January 2008. After twenty years of playing on Rebound Ace, the courts were changed to Plexicushion, a marginally faster surface. The new surface is thinner, and therefore has lower heat retention. This decision was made in a bid to reduce the "stick" of the court and the frequency of the extreme heat policy being invoked. However, the new surface faced criticism for being too similar to DecoTurf, the surface used at the US Open. Player reaction to the change of surface was generally ambivalent.
