Ron Ferguson (footballer)
Ronald Charles Ferguson (born 9 February 1957), known as Ron or Ronnie Ferguson, is an English former footballer who played in the Football League for Sheffield Wednesday, Scunthorpe United and Darlington, and in the Belgian League for Racing Jet de Bruxelles and La Louvière, in the 1970s and 1980s. He played as a forward. Life and career Ferguson was born in Accrington, Lancashire, and attended Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. He began his football career as a youngster with Sheffield Wednesday, and made his first-team debut on 9 November 1974, a couple of months after his 17th birthday; he scored the opening goal in a 3–0 defeat of York City in the Second Division. He finished the season with eleven appearances. In December 1975, he joined Fourth Division club Scunthorpe United on loan; he played three times without scoring. Ronald F. Ferguson (born 1950) in Cleveland, Ohio is an economist who researches factors that affect educational achievement. Major themes in his work include the race-related achievement gap in the United States and how to improve schools and identify effective teachers. Education Ferguson earned an undergraduate degree in economics from Cornell University and a PhD in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Career Ferguson was appointed to Harvard University in 1983. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in Education and Public Policy with a joint appointment to the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the Harvard Kennedy School. Sir Ronald Ferguson Thomson (26 June 1830 – 15 November 1888) was a British diplomat. Thomson spent his entire professional life working for the British Foreign Office in Tehran. He was appointed Secretary of Legation (third class) on 7 September 1848 and was promoted on 5 January 1852 to attaché. In 1879 he succeeded his elder brother William Taylour Thomson in the office of Envoy Extraordinary and Ministers Plenipotentiary to Persia. During his tenure, the Sheikh Ubeydullah uprising took place.
