Ronald Allen
Ronald John Allen (16 December 1930 – 18 June 1991) was an English actor. He is most well known for playing David Hunter in the long-running ITV soap opera ''Crossroads'', a role he played from 1969 to 1985. Biography Allen was born in Reading, Berkshire. He studied at Leighton Park School in Reading and trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London, where he won the John Gielgud Scholarship. He worked in repertory theatre and had a season at the Old Vic in London. Allen also appeared in several films, including '' A Night to Remember'' (1958) about the sinking of the ''Titanic'', the espionage film ''A Circle of Deception'' (1960), the British horror films ''The Projected Man'' (1966) and ''The Fiend'' (1972), the war film ''Hell Boats'' (1970), and the black comedy ''Eat the Rich'' (1987). Ron Allen (born 1964) is a goofy-footed American skateboarder from Visalia, California. Allen, living and working in Oakland, California, is a well-known California street and vert skater who had parts in H-Street videos, Shackle Me Not and Hokus Pokus. Skateboarding career Allen is one of the nation’s first black professional skateboarders and one of the first to obtain a major corporate sponsorship. The first company to sponsor Allen was Gullwing Trucks. After placing third in an amateur contest in Santa Barbara, Vision Street Wear started to sponsor Allen. In 1989, Allen left Vision for the newly founded H-Street, alongside John Schultes, Colby Carter, Art Godoy, Tony Magnusson, Danny Way, Chris Livingston, Aaron Vincent, John Sonner, David Nelsen, Matt Hensley, Sal Barbier, and others. Ronnie Allen
Ronald Allen (15 January 1929 – 9 June 2001) was an English international football player and manager. He was a professional footballer for nineteen years, between 1946 and 1964, making 638 appearances in the Football League, and scoring 276 goals. He also won five caps for England national team. He later became a manager at clubs in England, Spain, Portugal, and Greece. His son, Russell, also played professional football throughout the 1970s. Starting his career in 1946 with Port Vale, he spent four years with the club, before making a record breaking transfer to West Bromwich Albion. He was one of the best strikers of the 1950s, playing over 400 games, with a ratio of a goal every two games. He lifted the FA Cup in 1954, and helped the club to the FA Charity Shield in 1954, and a second-place finish in the First Division in 1953–54. Ronnie Monroe "Fast Eddie" Allen (July 12, 1938 – February 6, 2013) was an American professional pool player. He was labeled as a pool "super star" in the prime of his pool-shooting career by his peers during pool's golden era. For several decades from the early 60s to the late 80s, Allen was considered one of the best One Pocket players in the world. He was inducted into the One Pocket Hall of Fame in 2004 for his contributions to the pocket billiard game of one pocket. Ronald Frederick Allen (born December 23, 1943) is a former professional baseball player. He played part of the 1972 season in Major League Baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals, primarily as a first baseman. He was a switch-hitter and threw right-handed. Early life Allen starred at Wampum High School alongside his older brothers, future baseball All-Star Dick Allen and outfielder–infielder Hank Allen. Ron Allen scored 1,195 career points as a star forward and center for Wampum High School's basketball team; Wampum captured the 1958 and 1960 state championships in basketball. Ronald Allen (September 13, 1947 – August 10, 2010) was an African-American poet and playwright who described his work as a "concert of language." The Detroit native employed intuitive configurations of language (i.e., image, trope, and metaphor) to invent new meaning and structures for the exploration and expression of language arts, including poetry and theater. Like fellow Detroit playwright Ron Milner, Allen's ear for the use of Afro-American language, particularly in Detroit, was keen. Known for his experiments with poetic verse, character, theme and structure, Allen created centers of language experiences and rhythm through his writing. Sir Ronald Wilberforce Allen (24 November 1889 – 10 August 1936) was an English lawyer and Liberal politician. Family and education Allen was born in Stamford Hill in north London, the son of the Reverend William Allen, a Wesleyan minister. He was educated at Scarborough College and King's College, London where obtained his BA degree in 1910. He never married. In religion he followed his father's path and became a prominent Methodist layman. Career Allen went in for the law and was admitted as a solicitor in 1913 later rising to become senior partner in the firm of Wilberforce Allen & Bryant, with offices in the Strand, Cheapside and Ludgate Hill. Ronald David Allan (3 March 1924 – 21 May 1997) was an Australian rules footballer who played with North Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Career Allan, a utility from West Melbourne, played with the North Melbourne seconds during the war, but had to wait until he left to army to make his senior debut. He made 14 league appearances for North Melbourne, from 1946 to 1949. Midway through the 1949 season, Allan got a clearance to Brighton, in the Victorian Football Association (VFA). In 1950, Allan captained the North Melbourne seconds team, which finished runners-up. He returned to the VFA in 1951, joining Preston, then in 1952 moved to Tasmania to captain-coach North West Football Union club Latrobe.
