Ron Sanchez
Ron Sanchez is a Dominican college basketball coach who is the associate head coach for the Virginia Cavaliers men's basketball team. He was most recently the head coach at Charlotte 49ers men's basketball, Charlotte from 2018 until his resignation on June 6, 2023. Playing career Sanchez played collegiately at State University of New York at Oneonta, SUNY Oneonta where he was a two-time State University of New York Athletic Conference, SUNYAC all-conference selection, and SUNYAC Player of the Year for the 1995-96 season. He was inducted into the Red Dragons' athletic hall of fame in 2007. Coaching career After graduation, Sanchez assisted his alma mater for three seasons, before taking an assistant coaching position at State University of New York at Delhi, SUNY Delhi from 1999 to 2001. The Virginia Cavaliers men's basketball team is the college basketball, intercollegiate men's basketball program representing the University of Virginia. The school competes in the Atlantic Coast Conference in NCAA Division I, Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Virginia has won the #2019: Redemption National Championship, NCAA Championship, two National Invitation Tournaments, and three Atlantic Coast Conference men's basketball tournament, ACC tournament titles. Conference USA
Conference USA (C-USA or CUSA) is an intercollegiate athletic conference whose current member institutions are located within the Southern United States. The conference participates in the NCAA's Division I in all sports. C-USA's offices are located in Dallas, Texas. History C-USA was founded in 1995 by the merger of the Metro Conference and Great Midwest Conference, two Division I conferences that did not sponsor football. However, the merger did not include either Great Midwest member Dayton or Metro members VCU and Virginia Tech. Since this left an uneven number of schools in the conference, Houston of the dissolving Southwest Conference was extended an invitation and agreed to join following the SWC's disbanding at the end of the 1995–96 academic year. The 2022–23 Charlotte 49ers men's basketball team represented the University of North Carolina at Charlotte during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by fifth-year head coach Ron Sanchez, and played their home games at Dale F. Halton Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina as members of Conference USA. They finished the season 18–13, 9–11 in C-USA play to finish in fifth place, and lost to Middle Tennessee in the first round of the C-USA tournament.
