Ron Roker
Ronald Ernest Alfred Roker (born 23 January 1941) is an English songwriter, singer and record producer Roker has written UK chart hits for Jackie Lee, The Fortunes, Barry Blue, Tina Charles, Polly Brown, The Pearls, The Real Thing and Sweet Dreams. Career Roker first worked as a song-plugger. His first taste of chart success was provided by the theme music to children's TV programme '' The Adventures of Rupert Bear''. The song "Rupert", co-written with Len Beadle and recorded by Beadle's wife Jackie Lee, made the UK Singles Chart in 1971. He also wrote the theme for ''Inigo Pipkin'' (later renamed '' Pipkins''). Further success was attained when Roker met up with Lynsey Rubin (who was about to change her name to Lynsey de Paul). Jackie Lee (Irish Singer)
Jackie Lee (born Jacqueline Norah Flood, 29 May 1936) is an Irish popular music singer, who has recorded under various stage names. Career Lee was a musical child prodigy. She won a scholarship and trained as a soprano for four years. Upon finishing her studies she became a vocalist with the top showbands playing prestigious Irish venues. Lee experienced similar success when she moved to London and joined the popular dance band; The Squadronaires. In 1955 her first solo record was released, followed by a further two the next year. From 1959 to 1964, Lee was a member of The Raindrops, a successful quartet who made countless appearances on British TV and variety shows, had a BBC Radio show and released a string of records, the majority of which had Lee as lead vocalist. The Raindrops also included Les Vandyke and Vince Hill in its line-up. First Choice is an American girl group and vocal music trio from Philadelphia. Their R&B and disco hits included " Armed and Extremely Dangerous", "Smarty Pants", "The Player (Part 1)", "Guilty", "Love Thang", and "Doctor Love". They were signed to soul label Philly Groove Records and to disco label Gold Mind in addition to Warner Bros. Records and Salsoul. Career The First Choice began singing in high school as the Debonettes. The group consisted of lead singer Rochelle Fleming, Annette Guest, Wardell Piper and Malanie McSears. They performed in clubs after school in and around Philadelphia. They were introduced to record man Norman Harris by radio DJ Georgie Woods. Harris produced their first single "This Is the House Where Love Died". Pickettywitch was a British pop group. Fronted by singer Polly Brown (also billed as Polly Browne), the group became best known for its hit single, "That Same Old Feeling", which was written by Tony Macaulay and John Macleod. It reached number five in the UK Singles Chart in 1970. Origins The original members were Polly Brown (vocals), Chris Warren (vocals), Bob Brittain ( organ), Martin Bridges (guitar), Mike Tomich (bass guitar) and Keith Hall ( drums). Daniel Edward Aykroyd ( ; born July 1, 1952) is a Canadian actor, comedian, producer, musician and writer. He was an original member of the "Not Ready for Prime Time Players" on ''Saturday Night Live'' (1975–1979). "Taking It On" is a song written by Lynsey de Paul and Ron Roker, and originally published by ATV Music. Although de Paul recorded her own demo version of the song in 1972, her version of the song was not released until 2013 on her Anthology CD album '' Sugar and Beyond''. De Paul also arranged and produced this recording. The song was first released by the popular dancing ensemble The Young Generation, together with another De Paul/Roker composition "It's Been a Long Time", on their album ''Give Me Love'', named after the George Harrison song "Give Me Love (Give Me Peace on Earth)" that the Young Generation also cover on the album. "When You've Gotta Go" was written by Lynsey de Paul (credited to her birth name, Lynsey Rubin) and Ron Roker. It was recorded by Solomon King at 10cc's Strawberry Studios and produced by Harvey Lisberg and released as a single in 1972. The single was a chart hit in Australia in early 1973, and also spent four weeks on the Dutch "Tipparade", peaking at No. 17. It also appeared on the Polydor compilation album ''Doppel Pop Tops 3''. Another version of the song was also released as a single in Australia by Jay Justin (a regular on national TV shows ''Bandstand'' and ''the Johnny O'Keefe Show''), in November 1973 on the RCA label.
