Ron Rinehart
Ron Rinehart (born January 25, 1965) is an American thrash metal vocalist. He is the lead singer for the American thrash metal band Dark Angel. His stints were from 1987 (after the departure of previous vocalist Don Doty) until the band's dissolution in 1992, and again from 2002 to 2005, when they were reunited. In October 2013, Dark Angel announced another reunion, again featuring Rinehart. He was first featured on the Dark Angel album ''Leave Scars'' (1989), followed by ''Live Scars'' (1990), and their latest studio album to date ''Time Does Not Heal'' (1991). He also had a guest vocalist appearance on thrash metal band Viking's album ''Man of Straw''. After Dark Angel's dissolution, Rinehart and bandmate Eric Meyer went on to form a band called Hunger. They released a three track demo the following year. Dark Angel (band)
Dark Angel is an American thrash metal band from Downey, California, that formed in 1981. The band's current lineup includes guitarists Jim Durkin and Eric Meyer, drummer Gene Hoglan, bassist Mike Gonzalez and frontman Ron Rinehart. In its history, they have gone through many lineup changes, and there are no original members left in Dark Angel besides Durkin, who was out of the band from 1989 to 2013. Meyer, who joined in 1984, is the only member to appear on all of their albums. Dark Angel's over-the-top style (extremely fast, heavy and lengthy songs with many tempo changes, lyrics, and extended instrumental parts) earned them the nickname "The L.A. Caffeine Machine". Despite never achieving mainstream success, the band is often credited as one of the leaders of the second wave of the 1980s thrash metal movement, and they have been cited as a strong influence to the death metal genre. Oil (band)
Oil is a Christian thrash metal band from Long Beach, California, USA. The band was formed in 1997 by Ron Rinehart, the former vocalist with Dark Angel, who converted to Christianity at a Harvest Crusade after Dark Angel's dissolution in 1992. Other members include lead guitarist Blake Nelson (formerly with Deceiver, Desire and Captain Black) and drummer Jason Vander Pal. Oil has released two studio albums and one live album. In 2004, Rinehart left the band to pursue other non-musical interests. The rest of the group is looking for a new vocalist. Biography Oil's first release was a self-financed EP in 1999. ''Leave Scars'' is the third studio album released by the American thrash metal band, Dark Angel, released on January 24, 1989. It was their first album with vocalist Ron Rinehart and bassist Mike Gonzalez (who joined just prior to the release of ''Darkness Descends''), and the last to feature guitarist Jim Durkin. ''Leave Scars'' was Dark Angel's most successful release, peaking at number 159 on the ''Billboard'' 200. ''Time Does Not Heal'' is the fourth studio album by Dark Angel, released in 1991. This was Dark Angel's final album before their break up in 1992. Work on a follow-up album, under the name ''Atrocity Exhibition'', was prepared, but never advanced past a few demos. ''Time Does Not Heal'' was also Dark Angel's only album with former Viking guitarist Brett Eriksen, who replaced Jim Durkin two years earlier. Album content ''Time Does Not Heal'' finds Dark Angel continuing the experimentation of its predecessor, ''Leave Scars'' (1989), introducing elements of technical and progressive, otherwise known as "technical thrash metal". Viking is an American thrash metal band in Los Angeles, California, which had existed for four years, between 1986 and 1990. However, they reformed in 2011. To date, Viking has released three studio albums, '' Do or Die'' (1988), '' Man of Straw'' (1989) and ''No Child Left Behind'' (2015).
