Ron Ouellette
Ronald Ouellette is a politician in the province of New Brunswick, Canada. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in 2003 and re-elected in 2006. Early life After receiving his Bachelor of Education from the Université de Moncton, he began his teaching career. For many years, he taught special needs children. He held various positions during his 31 years as an educator, including vice-principal at John Caldwell School, and department head at the Polyvalente Thomas-Albert. His interest in politics began as a teen when he sat on the student council of Collège Saint-Louis/Maillet. He was selected as the New Brunswick representative at the Convention Internationale de la Francophonie in Africa in 1968. From 1984 to 1987, he served as a councillor, before becoming the mayor of Grand Falls (1987 to 1992). He sat on the industrial commission for 11 years, including two years as president. Michael Olscamp
Michael Robert Olscamp is a politician in the province of New Brunswick, Canada, and a retired teacher. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in the 2006 election as the Progressive Conservative MLA for Tantramar. He did not win re-election in 2014. Biography He graduated from Campbellton Composite High School and then achieved journeyman status as an electrician. In 1972–73, he enrolled in the Vocational Teacher Training Program at the New Brunswick Institute of Technology in Moncton. He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Education from the University of Moncton. Olscamp taught vocational education at Tantramar Regional High School in Sackville. After teaching he was vice-principal of the high school in the 1980s. He was then recruited as Director of Inmate Programs at minimum security Westmorland Institution in Dorchester. David Alward
David Nathan Alward (born December 2, 1959) is a Canadian politician, who served as the 32nd premier of New Brunswick, 2010 to 2014. Alward has been a member of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick since 1999 and has been the leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick. His party was defeated on September 22, 2014, and Alward resigned as Progressive Conservative Party of New Brunswick leader on September 23, 2014. On April 24, 2015, Alward was named Canadian consul general in Boston. Early life Alward was born in Beverly, Massachusetts. ''The Daily Gleaner'' is a morning daily newspaper serving the city of Fredericton, New Brunswick, and the upper Saint John River Valley. The paper is published Monday through Saturday and began operating in 1880. In April 2006, the paper switched from afternoon to morning publication. The offices of the ''Daily Gleaner'' are located on Alison Boulevard on the city's south side. The ''Gleaner'', as it is called locally, is part of Brunswick News Inc. K.C. Irving bought it in 1968 from Michael Wardell, who had owned it since 1950. The paper has its roots in the earlier paper ''The Gleaner and Northumberland Schediasma'', started in 1829. New Brunswick Electoral Redistribution, 2006
The 2006 New Brunswick electoral redistribution was undertaken as a result of legislation introduced by Bernard Lord, the Premier of New Brunswick, Canada, on June 9, 2005. The legislation establishes a statutory requirement for redistribution of electoral districts after every decennial Canadian census. The redistribution process set out in the legislation took approximately six months to complete, and was overseen by an independent commission. The bill introduced by the government would have required that 55 ridings be maintained with populations varying between 75% and 110% of 1/55 of the provincial population. The Opposition Liberals expressed a desire for the commission to have greater flexibility either in the variance of the average population or in the number of districts.
