Ron McLean (politician)
Ronald Thomas McLean (28 December 1938 – 13 February 1999) was an Australian politician. He was a Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly. He was born in Townsville to Kenneth Murdock McLean and Edna May, ''née'' Blee. He attended Bulimba State School and then Brisbane Technical College, where he took an apprenticeship as a carpenter. From 1964 to 1975, he was a waterside worker, becoming active in labour politics as a delegate to the Queensland Trades and Labour Council and chairman of the Maritime Unions Group. He was also a federal councillor for the Australian Waterside Workers Federation and president of the Brisbane Waterside Workers Association in 1980. McLean was elected to the Queensland Legislative Assembly in 1980 as the Labor member for Bulimba. In 1981 he became Opposition Spokesman on Employment and Industrial Affairs, adding Maritime Services, Harbours and Marine Activities for most of 1983. Ron McLean (environmentalist)
Ronald James McLean (22 January 1914 – 26 May 1980) was a New Zealand farmer, aviator, community leader and environmental campaigner. He was born in Wyndham, New Zealand, on 22 January 1914. McLean is best known as spokesperson for the Save Manapouri campaign. He chaired the Southland committee of the group and travelled the country, speaking to numerous audiences. In the end, there were 19 committees throughout the nation and McLean had helped establish most of them. After the 1972 general election brought a change of government, the Labour Party made good of its election promise and appointed six Guardians of Lake Manapouri in 1973. McLean was a Guardian until his death. Ron McLean (1943–1983) was an Australian screenwriter, producer and executive producer, best known for his work on TV. He wrote most of the episodes for ''Spyforce'', which he helped create. He had a long collaboration with producer Roger Mirams. Biography McLean was running a woman's shoe shop in Double Bay, Sydney when he read an article about a TV series being made in Australia, ''Riptide'' (1969). He sent them a couple of stories which the show liked and he taught himself how to adapt them into scripts. He wrote some episodes of '' Skippy the Bush Kangaroo'' and did sketches for ''The Mavis Bramston Show''. He came much in demand in the early 70s, writing a number of shows for Crawford Productions. McLean met Roger Mirans when working on ''Woobinda, Animal Doctor''. The two formed a company, South Pacific Films, which made ''Spyforce''.
