Ronald Edmund Foster (22 November 1938 – 28 July 2017) was an English professional footballer who played as an inside forward. Active in both England and the United States between 1959 and 1969, Foster made over 250 career appearances for five teams. Career Born in Islington, Foster played non-League football with Clapton before turning professional in 1959 with Leyton Orient. Foster also played in the Football League for Grimsby Town, Reading and Brentford, as well as in the North American Soccer League with the Dallas Tornado The Dallas Tornado was a soccer team based in Dallas, Texas that played in the North American Soccer League (NASL) from 1967 to 1981. The Iron City Houserockers were an American rock band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, led by the singer and guitarist Joe Grushecky, from 1976 to 1984. History Started in 1976 as the Brick Alley Band by Grushecky, a high school special education teacher in Pittsburgh, the band was a fairly typical bar band. It was distinguished by Grushecky's taut, focused songs about life in the heartland and a distinctive, harmonica-and-guitar-driven sound owing much to the Rolling Stones and the J. Geils Band, but which also seemed to borrow the thrashing fury of punk rock. Ronnie Foster (born May 12, 1950) is an American funk and soul jazz organist, and record producer. His albums recorded for Blue Note Records in the 1970s have gained a cult following after the emergence of acid jazz. Early life Foster was born in Buffalo, New York, on May 12, 1950. He attended Public School 8, Woodlawn Jr. High for a year, McKinley Vocational High School for two years, and then spent his final year at Lafayette High School. The only formal musical instruction he received was a month of accordion lessons. He was attracted to music at the age of four, took it more seriously from his early teens, and had his first professional gig aged fifteen, playing in a strip club. Later life and career Foster initially performed with other local musicians. He moved to New York City with his own band, and acquired a publishing company.
