Ron Duguay
Ronald Duguay (born July 6, 1957) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and coach who played 12 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) from 1977 through 1989, and served four seasons as a minor league coach. He appeared as an in-studio analyst during MSG Network's coverage of the New York Rangers from 2007 to 2018. He was born in the Sudbury region of northern Ontario, and as a child resided in Val Caron, Ontario. Duguay played junior hockey for the hometown Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League. Junior career Duguay played for his hometown Sudbury Wolves of the OMJHL throughout his entire junior career spanning from 1973 to 1977. He was a very valuable player for the Wolves and one of the team's top scorers. Centre (ice Hockey)
The centre (or center in the United States) in ice hockey is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is the middle of the ice, away from the sideboards. Centres have more flexibility in their positioning and therefore often end up covering more ice surface than any other player. Centres are ideally strong, fast skaters who are able to back-check quickly from deep in the opposing zone. Generally, centres are expected to be gifted passers more so than goal scorers, although there are exceptions - typically larger centres who position themselves directly in front of the net in order to score off rebounds. Ontario Hockey League
The Ontario Hockey League (OHL; french: Ligue de hockey de l'Ontario (LHO)) is one of the three major junior ice hockey leagues which constitute the Canadian Hockey League. 34th National Hockey League All-Star Game
The 34th National Hockey League All-Star Game was held in Capital Centre in Landover, home to the Washington Capitals, on February 9, 1982. This was the first All-Star game played with geographically-aligned rosters following the NHL's realignment before the season started. Uniforms With the exception of the 1979 Challenge Cup, the NHL All-Stars had worn the same uniform design since 1973, itself a modification of a design that had dated back to 1964. For the 1982 game hosted in the suburbs of the United States capital, the NHL decided to introduce new uniforms featuring dozens of stars scattered across the base-colored section of the jersey. The 1981–82 New York Rangers season was the franchise's 56th season. During the regular season, the Rangers finished second in the Patrick Division with 92 points and qualified for the NHL playoffs. 1981 Canada Cup
The 1981 Labatt Canada Cup was the second best-on-best ice hockey world championship and involved the world's top six hockey nations. Tournament games were held in Edmonton, Winnipeg, Montreal and Ottawa. The Soviet Union defeated Canada in a single game final to win its first title by the score of 8–1. Soviet goaltender Vladislav Tretiak was named most valuable player. Canada's Wayne Gretzky led the tournament in scoring with 12 points. This second edition of the Canada Cup was originally scheduled to be held in 1979 but was postponed due to disputes between the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association and Hockey Canada. 1977 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships
The 1977 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships (''1977 WJHC'') were held between December 22, 1976, and January 2, 1977, in Banská Bystrica and Zvolen, Czechoslovakia. The Soviet team won the tournament with a perfect 7–0 record. This was the fourth edition of the Ice Hockey World Junior Championship, but the first to be included in official IIHF records. Canada was represented by the 1976 Memorial Cup champions St. Catharines Fincups with eight additions from other OHA teams, but the other seven nations were represented by teams of their top under-20 players. Canada Men's National Junior Ice Hockey Team
The Canadian men's national under-20 ice hockey team is the ice hockey team representing Canada internationally in under-20 competition. Their primary participation in this age group comes at the International Ice Hockey Federation's World Junior Championship, held annually every December and January. The team also participates in various exhibition matches and occasional exhibition series, such as the 2007 Super Series against their Russian counterparts, an eight-game exhibition series commemorating the 35th anniversary of the 1972 Summit Series.
