Eduardo López De Romaña
Eduardo López de Romaña y Alvizuri (19 March 1847 – 26 May 1912) served as the 32nd President of Peru from September 1899 to September 1903. A member of the landowning elite, he was the first engineer to become President of the Republic, and one of several Presidents from the era of the so-called Aristocratic Republic. Early years López de Romaña was born in Arequipa, the son of Juan Manuel López de Romaña y Fernández Pascua and María Josefa Alvizuri y Bustamante. His father was a wealthy landowner of Spanish ancestry owner of large ''haciendas'' and ''fincas'' in the Southern Peru. He was educated at the San Jerónimo Seminary, Arequipa, and Stonyhurst College, Lancashire. Romaña received his B.A. from King's College London in 1868 and was appointed a member of the Institute of Civil Engineers of London in 1872. Cecilio Félix Romaña (1899–1997 in Barcelona) was an Argentinian physician remembered for describing Romaña's sign, as he was the first to describe the phenomenon. Romaña's sign is a medical term for the unilateral painless periorbital swelling associated with the acute stage of Chagas' disease. Romaña's Sign should not be confused with a chagoma. He researched tropical diseases from 1930 to 1960 in Northern Argentina, particularly Chagas disease. His description of his eponymous sign in 1935 allowed for earlier and easier diagnosis of this disease in endemic areas. Alberto Rey de Castro y Romaña (1 July 1869 – 18 May 1961) was a Peruvian politician and diplomat. He was Prime Minister of Peru, Minister of Justice and Minister of Foreign Relations in 1934. Rey de Castro was born in Arequipa, Peru. His parents were Ezequiel Rey de Castro y Maria Manuela de Romaña y Bustamante. He received his early education in Lima at Colegio de la Inmaculada and Liceo Carolino and obtained his PhD from the University of San Agustin de Arequipa. Romaña (guerrilla Leader)
Henry Castellanos Garzón, aka "Romaña", (born March 20, 1965) was a Colombian guerrilla commander of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. Castellanos Garzón was a member of the Estado Mayor and the Commander of several Eastern Bloc of the FARC-EP fronts. According to the United States government, Castellanos Garzón has been involved in drug trafficking for the FARC since the mid-1980s. The U.S. Department of State is offering a reward of up to US$2.5 million for information leading to his arrest and/or conviction. Castellanos Garzón is also wanted by Colombian authorities for the kidnapping of the former mayor of Soacha, Cundinamarca and his brother in 1997. Both brothers were later freed.
