Romavilla Winery
Romavilla Winery is a heritage-listed winery at 77 Northern Road, Roma, Maranoa Region, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1877 to 1878. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 14 August 2008. It closed in 2012, when the owners retired.The historic building was mostly destroyed in a catastrophic fire on 22 June 2023. History Romavilla Vineyards, on the outskirts of Roma in the Maranoa district of south western Queensland, was established in 1866 by Samuel Symons Bassett. It dominated wine-production in the Roma district and later in Queensland for many decades, and continues to manufacture commercial wines. The earliest section of the present winery buildings was constructed in 1877–1878. The Bungil Creek, part of the Balonne catchment within the Murray-Darling basin, is a perennial stream located in South West Queensland, Australia. Course and features The headwaters of the creek rise on the south-western slopes of the Great Dividing Range, below Bymount and north of . The creek flows southeast through the town of Roma, with the Carnarvon Highway following much of the course of the creek. North of , the Bungil Creek reaches its confluence with the Spring Creek, a tributary of the Balonne River. Carnarvon Gorge
Carnarvon Gorge is located in the Southern Brigalow Belt bioregion in Central Queensland (Australia), 593 km northwest of Brisbane. Primarily created by water erosion, Carnarvon Gorge is around 30 kilometres long, located in Carnarvon National Park, and six hundred metres deep at the mouth. Billy Hughes
William Morris Hughes (25 September 1862 – 28 October 1952) was an Australian politician who served as the seventh prime minister of Australia, in office from 1915 to 1923. Madeira is a fortified wine made on the Portuguese Madeira Islands, off the coast of Africa. Madeira is produced in a variety of styles ranging from dry wines which can be consumed on their own, as an apéritif, to sweet wines usually consumed with dessert. Cheaper cooking versions are often flavoured with salt and pepper for use in cooking, but these are not fit for consumption as a beverage.
