Romano Hummel (born 4 January 1999) is an international speedway rider from the Netherlands. Speedway career Hummel became the Long Track World Champion, after winning the 2021 Individual Long Track World Championship. He had previously won a bronze medal at the 2017 Team Long Track World Championship. Berwick Bandits
The Berwick Bandits are a British speedway club, based in Berwick-upon-Tweed. They currently compete in the SGB Championship, racing at Shielfield Park, with home matches usually taking place on Saturday evenings. They also run a second team in the National Development League, known as the Berwick Bullets. History 1968–1981 Berwick have been operational in consecutive seasons from 1968 (as founder members of British League Division Two) through to the present day. From 1968 to 1980 they competed in division 2, either in the British League Division 2, or under the new name of the National League (NL). The team won their first honour during the 1980 National League season after winning the Division 2 Knockout Cup. In 1980, Berwick left Shielfield Park after a disagreement with the landlords Berwick Rangers FC. 2021 Individual Long Track World Championship
The 2021 Individual Long Track World Championship is the 51st edition of the FIM speedway Individual Long Track World Championship. The Championship will be decided by a series of five Grand Prix races. Once again the schedule was seriously disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as it had been during the 2020 Individual Long Track World Championship. Romano Hummel of the Netherlands won the world Championship title after securing 13 points in round two. Dimitri Bergé who led after round 1, was unable to ride in round 2 because he had been a wildcard in round 1. The Frenchman was denied the chance of a title shot, which was extremely unfortunate. The second and final round was streamed live on YouTube. The FIM Team Long Track World Championship, known officially as the ''Longtrack of Nations'', is an annual track racing event since 2007 organized by the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM). The championship has been won by Germany eight times. The 2020 Championships in Morizès, France and the 2021 Championships in Roden, Netherlands were both cancelled, due to the issues regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Motorcycle Speedway
Motorcycle speedway, usually referred to simply as speedway, is a motorcycle sport involving four and sometimes up to six riders competing over four anti-clockwise laps of an oval circuit. The motorcycles are specialist machines that use only one gear and have no brakes. Racing takes place on a flat oval track usually consisting of dirt, loosely packed shale, or crushed rock (mostly used in Australia and New Zealand).
