Romanian General Inspectorate For Emergency Situations
The Romanian General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations ( ro, Inspectoratul General pentru Situaţii de Urgenţă - IGSU) is a public structure subordinated to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, created on December 15, 2004, by merging the Civil Defense Command () with the General Inspectorate of the Military Firefighters Corps (). The structure is specialised in fire safety and civil protection. At the national level, IGSU coordinates all the organizations involved in the management of emergency situations in compliance with international standards. At the local level (in counties), the branches are called County Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (acronym: ISU), with each branch having multiple subunits (fire stations, detachments, intervention guards). Coat Of Arms Of The Romanian Inspectorate For Emergency Situations
The heraldic ensigns of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations consist of the following elements: large blue shield with a crusader golden eagle, having its head turned to the right, red peak and claws, open wings, holding a silver sword in its right claw; the green olive branch, symbolizing peace and order, replacing the mace from the coat of arms of the country. The small purple shield, placed on the eagle’s chest, having a firefighter helmet superposed on two crossed hatchets. In the lower part of the emblem, an exploding grenade on whose sides there are oak branches. At the bottom of the external shield, on a white scarf, the motto of the ministry is written in black: la, AUDACIA ET DEVOTIO. Mareșal (Romania)
Mareșal ( Marshal) is the highest rank in the Army of Romania, the Romanian Armed Forces. It is the equivalent of a field marshal in other countries. The rank of ''mareșal'' can only be bestowed to a General or Admiral ( ro, amiral), in time of war for exceptional military merits, by the President of Romania and confirmed by the Supreme Council of National Defense. Only three non-royal persons were bestowed the rank ''mareșal'' to date: Alexandru Averescu, Constantin Prezan, and Ion Antonescu. The first two were Generals during World War I, and the last was General during World War II, and Ruler of Romania between the abdication of King Carol II (6 September 1940) and his arrest by King Michael I (23 August 1944). The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Romania ( ro, Ministerul Afacerilor Interne) is one of the eighteen ministries of the Government of Romania. From 23 August 1944 to 18 March 1975 the ministry held the title of ''Minister of Internal Affairs'', between 2004 and 2007, held the title of ''Minister of Administration and Interior'', and since April 2007, ''Minister of Interior and Administrative Reform''. In December 2008, the Boc government changed the name back to ''Ministry of Administration and Interior''. Until 2006, the ministry was housed near Lipscani in ''Palatul Vama Poştei'', built between 1914 and 1926 according to the architect Statie Ciortan's plans.
