The Romanian Ambassador to China is the official representative of the Government in Bucharest to the Government in Beijing (People's Republic of China). He is concurrently accredited in Naypyidaw (Myanmar) as well as in Ulaanbator ( Mongolia). China is nowadays Romania's largest commercial partner after the EU and the accelerating pace of bilateral trade. Ion Gheorghe Maurer
Ion Gheorghe Iosif Maurer (23 September 1902 – 8 February 2000) was a Romanian communist politician and lawyer, and the 49th Prime Minister of Romania. He is the longest serving Prime Minister in the history of Romania (having served for 12 years and 343 days). Biography Maurer was born in Bucharest to an Alsatian father of German descent and a Romanian mother with petit-bourgeois background. He completed studies in law at the University of Bucharest in 1923, after which he pursued graduate studies at the Sorbonne in Paris. Upon returning to Romania, he became an attorney, practicing law in Sighișoara, then serving as public prosecutor and later judge. In 1932 he went to Bucharest as counsel for several large banks. Traian Băsescu
Traian Băsescu (; born 4 November 1951) is a conservatism, conservative Romanian politician who served as President of Romania from 2004 to 2014. Prior to his presidency, Băsescu served as Romanian Minister of Transport on multiple occasions between 1991 and 2000, and as Mayor of Bucharest from 2000 to 2004. Additionally, he was elected as leader of the Democratic Party (Romania), Democratic Party (PD) in 2001. During his term as leader of the PD, the party formed the Justice and Truth Alliance (DA) with the National Liberal Party (Romania), National Liberal Party (PNL). Ion Iliescu
Ion Iliescu (; born 3 March 1930) is a Romanian politician and engineer who served as President of Romania from 1989 until 1996 and from 2000 until 2004. Between 1996 and 2000 and also from 2004 to 2008, the year in which he retired, Iliescu was a senator for the Social Democratic Party (PSD), of which he is the founder and honorary president to this day. Iliescu joined the Romanian Communist Party (PCR) in 1953 and became a member of its Central Committee in 1965. Beginning with 1971, he was gradually marginalized by Nicolae Ceaușescu. Florea Dumitrescu
Florea Dumitrescu (April 4, 1927 – April 16, 2018) was a Romanian economist and diplomat. Dumitrescu held the positions of Minister of Finance of Romania from 1969 to 1978 and Governor of the National Bank of Romania from 1984 until 1989 under President Nicolae Ceaușescu during the country's Communist era. He served as Ambassador of Romania to China from 1978 to 1983. In parallel, he also served as Ambassador of Romania to Myanmar from 1979 to 1987.
