Livet-et-Gavet () is a commune in the Isère department in southeastern France. Population Geography Livet-et-Gavet is located in Oisans on the Romanche river, halfway between Grenoble and the winter sports resorts of The Alpe d'Huez and Les Deux Alpes (25 km). The town is also midway between Vizille and Bourg d'Oisans (about 15 km). The Romanche valley and the town are located between the Belledonne and Taillefer mountain ranges, and are served by Provincial Road 1091 (RD 1091; previously RN91). Col Du Lautaret
Col du Lautaret () is a high mountain pass in the department of Hautes-Alpes in France. It marks the boundary between the valleys of the Romanche and the Guisane, a tributary of the Durance which has its source at the col. The valleys are linked by national route 91 (Grenoble – Le Bourg-d'Oisans – Briançon). The Lautaret is one of the lowest points on the ridge line which separates the "north" (mainly in the Rhône-Alpes région) and "south" (mainly in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur région) geographic areas of the French Alps. The Col has long been used as a communication route between Grenoble and Briançon, and as a step for reaching Italy across the Alps through the Col de Montgenèvre. La Grave
La Grave (; oc, La Grava) is a commune in the Hautes-Alpes department in southeastern France. It is a small ski resort in the French Alps, dominated by La Meije (3982 m). It was the birthplace of Nicolas de Nicolay; adventurer and Geographer Ordinary to Henry II of France. Skiing The area is unpisted and although patrolled, has no formal avalanche control. The area is dangerous to ski unless supported by a guide, including much glacier travel at the very top. La Grave is visited by off-piste and extreme skiers. The vertical drop totals 2,150 metres, although it is possible to ski below the resort to the road and increase the vertical descent to 2,300 metres. Mechanical access to the mountain is limited to a closed, two-stage, pulse gondola system. Écrins National Park
Écrins National Park (french: parc national des Écrins, ; oc, parc Nacional dels Escrinhs) is a French national park located in the southeastern part of France in the Dauphiné Alps south of Grenoble and north of Gap, shared between the departments of Isère and Hautes-Alpes. Geography It rises up to 4,102 m (13,458 ft) at the Barre des Écrins and covers of high mountain areas, with high peaks, glacier fields, glacier valleys, alpine pastures, subalpine woodlands and lakes. Isère (river)
The Isère ( , ; frp, Isera; oc, Isèra) is a river in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of southeastern France. Its source, a glacier known as the ''Sources de l'Isère'', lies in the Vanoise National Park in the Graian Alps of Savoie, near the ski resort in Val-d'Isère on the border with Italy. An important left-bank tributary of the Rhône, the Isère merges with it a few kilometers north of Valence. Many riverside communes have incorporated the Isère's name into their own, for example, Sainte-Hélène-sur-Isère and Romans-sur-Isère. The department of Isère is likewise named after the river. Etymology The name ''Isère'' was first recorded under the form ''Isara'', which means "the impetuous one, the swift one." Drac (river)
The Drac () is a long river in southeastern France. It is a left tributary of the river Isère. It is formed at the confluence of the ''Drac Noir'' and the ''Drac Blanc'', which both rise in the southern part of the Massif des Écrins, high in the French Alps. It flows through several reservoirs on its course, including the Lac de Monteynard-Avignonet. It flows into the Isère at Grenoble. Its major tributary is the Romanche.
