Roman Jankowski
Roman Jankowski (born 5 October 1957 in Kościan, Poland) is a speedway rider active from 1976 until 2006. He is a former Polish Champion, having won the title in 1981 and again in 1988. Roman has also represented Poland at the World Team Cup. He rode for the Hackney Hawks in 1980 and 1981. Currently he is the youth coach and manager of Unia Leszno. Roman's three sons, Łukasz, Marcin and Norbert are all speedway riders. Kościan
Kościan (german: Kosten) is a town on the Obra canal in west-central Poland, with a population of 23 952 inhabitants as of June 2014. 1994 Individual Speedway World Championship
The 1994 Individual Speedway World Championship was the 49th edition of the official World Championship to determine the world champion rider. It was the last championship to be staged in the traditional single meeting World Final format before the advent of the Speedway Grand Prix series in 1995. The Final was held on 20 August at the Speedway Center in Vojens, Denmark. Sweden's Tony Rickardsson won the first of what would prove to be a record equalling 6 World Championships, defeating Danish former triple champion Hans Nielsen and Australia's Craig Boyce in a runoff after all three riders finished on 12 points. Leonard Raba
Leonard Raba (born 8 December 1954) is a former motorcycle speedway rider from Poland. He earned 10 international caps for the Poland national speedway team. Career Raba started his speedway career with Kolejarz Opole during the 1973 Polish speedway season. He spent his entire Polish leagues career with the club and helped them win the 1. Liga in 1974. and 1980 He spent one unsuccessful season riding for Swindon Robins, with fellow Pole Jerzy Trzeszkowski in the British speedway leagues, during the 1978 British League season. In 1982, he finished runner-up to Andrzej Huszcza in the Polish Individual Speedway Championship. He ended his speedway career due to injuries (complicated leg fracture) after an accident with Bolesław Proch in 1985, during a league match against Polonia Bydgoszcz. Zenon Kasprzak (born 10 May 1962) is a former international speedway rider from Poland. Speedway career Kasprzak reached the final of the Speedway World Championship in the 1988 Individual Speedway World Championship. He rode in the top tier of Polish Speedway from 1980-2000, riding for various clubs. Andrzej Huszcza
Andrzej Huszcza (born 10 March 1957 in Krępa, Poland) is a Polish former international motorcycle speedway rider who was a reserve (did not ride) in the 1988 World Final in Vojens, Denmark. Huszcza rode for Falubaz Zielona Góra for thirty years from 1975 until 2005. He then spent two seasons with PSŻ Poznań before finally retiring aged fifty. Huszcza spent two seasons in the UK riding for the Hackney Hawks, Reading Racers and the Leicester Lions in the British League. In 2008, he returned to ZKŻ Zielona Góra as coach. Zenon Plech
Zenon Plech (1 January 1953 – 25 November 2020) was a Polish international motorcycle speedway rider. He finished third in the Speedway World Championship in 1973 and as the runner-up in 1979. Career summary Plech won the Polish National Championship five times (1972, 1975, 1979, 1985 and 1986) and runner-up twice (1981 and 1983). He also was a member of the Poland team to take third place in the World Team Cup in 1972 and 1981. Zenon Plech's third place in the 1973 World Final at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów, Poland was controversial. On the last lap of Heat 19, Soviet rider Grigory Khlinovsky had attempted to pass Plech for the lead going into the back straight.
