The Roman Catholic Diocese of Tarahumara ( la, Dioecesis Tarahumarensis) is a suffragan diocese of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chihuahua, Archdiocese of Chihuahua. Guachochi
Guachochi is a city in the south-western portion of the Mexican state of Chihuahua. The city of Guachochi serves as the municipal seat for the surrounding municipality of the same name. As of 2010, the city of Guachochi had a population of 14,513, up from 12,385 in 2005. Municipality Guachochi is one of the 67 municipalities of Chihuahua, in northern Mexico. The municipal seat lies at Guachochi. The municipality covers an area of 4,340.35 km². It was created by the State Congress on 31 December 1962, with its excision from the municipality of Batopilas. A mission ''sui iuris'', or in Latin ''missio sui iuris'' (plural ''missions sui iuris''); also spelled mission(s) sui juris), also known as an independent mission, is a rare type of Roman Catholic missionary pseudo-diocesan jurisdiction, ranking below an apostolic prefecture and an apostolic vicariate, in an area with very few Catholics, often desolate or remote. The clerical head is styled Ecclesiastical Superior and can be a regular cleric, titular or diocesan bishop, archbishop or even a cardinal, but if of episcopal rank often resides elsewhere (notably, in another diocese or the Vatican) in chief of his primary office there. Constancio Miranda Weckmann (born 15 September 1952) is a Mexican archbishop of the Roman Catholic church, currently serving as head of the archdiocese of Chihuahua. In the past he was also the bishop of Atlacomulco, as well as briefly serving as the apostolic administrator of the Diocese of Parral in June 2012.
