Roman Catholic Diocese Of Ozieri
The Diocese of Ozieri ( la, Dioecesis Octeriensis o Othierensis) is a Roman Catholic bishopric in Sardinia, Italy. It is a suffragan of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Sassari. History The historical Diocese of Bisarchio was in the province of Sassari, district of Nuoro, with the episcopal residence at Ozieri. The first bishop mentioned is Costantino Madrone (c. 1102), who was succeeded in 1116 by Bishop Pietro. The cathedral was built in 1153. The bishop's residence changed several times, to Giracle, and again to Ardera. In 1503, at the death of Fra Calcerando, bishop of this see, Bisarchio was incorporated into the diocese of Alghero. The diocese was reestablished by Pope Pius VII in his papal bull, Bull of 9 March 1803, and given to Giannantioco Azzei, in 1819 archbishop of Oristano, his native place. Ozieri
Ozieri ( sc, Otieri) is a town and ''comune'' of approximatively 11,000 inhabitants in the province of Sassari, northern Sardinia (Italy), in the Logudoro historical region. Its cathedral of the Immacolata is the episcopal see of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Ozieri. Ozieri is the centre of the earliest known archaeological culture on Sardinia (known as Ozieri culture). Sergio Pintor
Sergio Pintor (16 November 1937 – 26 December 2020) was an Italian Roman Catholic prelate, who served as a Diocesan Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Ozieri. Msgr Pintor had previously served as director of the CEI's office for the pastoral outreach in health care, during the presidency of Cardinal Ruini. After attending the gymnasium at the seminar of the Archbishop of Oristano and the high school and theology at the Regional Seminar of Cuglieri, on 9 July 1961 he was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Oristano. In 1969, he graduated in Pastoral Theology from the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. In the diocese he was assistant pastor of the Cathedral of Oristano (his parish of origin) and diocesan assistant of young men of Catholic Action, and subsequently he served as spiritual director of the seminary Archbishop of Oristano.
