Roland Tay
Roland Tay (; born 1947) is an undertaker in Singapore. He is known for helping the poor and families of murder victims by providing pro-bono funeral arrangements. Memorial services conducted by Tay include Murder of Huang Na, Huang Na, Kallang River body parts murder, Liu Hong Mei, and Ah Meng, a Singapore tourism icon. Early life Born in 1947 as the fourth of 10 children to a hawker in a coffee shop along Lavender Street, Tay began his working life as a coffee boy at his family's coffee shop. He helped the family's coffee shop business by serving coffee and tea to customers in Singapore Casket and learned about the funeral trade. When his father died, Tay converted the coffee shop into Casket Palace, which was subsequently bought over by Singapore Casket. A funeral director, also known as an undertaker (British English) or mortician (American English), is a professional involved in the business of funeral rites. These tasks often entail the embalming and burial or cremation of the dead, as well as the arrangements for the funeral ceremony (although not the directing and conducting of the funeral itself unless clergy are not present). Woodlands Double Murders
The Woodlands double murders were the murders of pregnant housewife Choong Pei Shan (钟佩珊 Zhōng Peìshān) and her daughter Teo Zi Ning (张梓宁 Zhāng Zǐníng) by her husband Teo Ghim Heng (张锦兴 Zhāng Jĭnxīng) on 20 January 2017. The murders, which took place in their Woodlands flat in Singapore, were supposedly committed due to Teo and his wife arguing with each other about their financial difficulties and during the argument, Teo was provoked by Choong's insults and thus strangled her with a towel, before he killed his daughter Zi Ning. Zhang Huaxiang
On 21 March 2016, 28-year-old Zhang Huaxiang (; 6 November 1987 – 21 March 2016), a China-born nurse working in Singapore, was murdered by her close male friend Boh Soon Ho (), a Malaysian working as a cafeteria worker in Singapore. Boh's motive behind the murder was due to him feeling jealous over Zhang, whom he considered his girlfriend, not reciprocating his feelings and went out with another man, which caused him to use a towel to strangle Zhang in a fit of anger, and he even tried having sex on her corpse. After the killing, Boh escaped to his native state of Melaka before his arrest two weeks later, and he was extradited to Singapore to face charges of murder, dishonestly misappropriating Zhang's belongings and having sex on her corpse. Yishun Murders
The Yishun triple murders case was a series of three violent murders of three women in a rented flat in Yishun, Singapore in 2008. The suspect, Wang Zhijian, was the boyfriend of one of the two adult women living in the flat, and Wang, together with the victims, were from Mainland China. Wang was alleged to have murdered both his girlfriend and her child, and tried to kill the other two tenants - also a mother-daughter pair - who lived in the next room. The daughter survived the attack but her mother was killed. A study mama is a Singaporean term describing foreign women who accompany their children to Singapore to benefit from its education system by receiving primary and secondary-level education. The study mama phenomenon began around 2000, after the Singaporean government relaxed its immigration policies to allow more foreigners to study or work in the country.
