Roland Janes
Roland E. Janes (August 20, 1933 – October 18, 2013) was an American rockabilly guitarist and record producer, who was active at Sun Records between 1956 and 1963. Biography He was born in Brookings, Clay County, Arkansas, the second youngest in a family of seven, and grew up there and in St Louis, Missouri, where he lived with his mother after his parents divorced. Rockabilly
Rockabilly is one of the earliest styles of rock and roll music. It dates back to the early 1950s in the United States, especially the Southern United States, South. As a genre it blends the sound of Western music (North America), Western musical styles such as country music, country with that of rhythm and blues, leading to what is considered "classic" rock and roll. Some have also described it as a blend of bluegrass music, bluegrass with rock and roll. The term "rockabilly" itself is a portmanteau of "rock" (from "rock 'n' roll") and "hillbilly", the latter a reference to the country music (often called "Hillbilly#Music, hillbilly music" in the 1940s and 1950s) that contributed strongly to the style. Jerry Jaye
Jerry Jaye (born October 19, 1937 in Manila, Arkansas) is an American country/rockabilly singer. Jaye grew up on a sharecropper's farm and did a stint in the Navy from 1954 to 1958. After his return he started a band with bassist Tommy Baker and drummer Carl Frye, who began playing the local Arkansas circuits. In 1966, the group traveled to Memphis, Tennessee, and recorded a single, "My Girl Josephine" (a hit for Fats Domino the previous decade). Memphis Music Hall Of Fame
The Memphis Music Hall of Fame, located in Memphis, Tennessee, honors Memphis musicians for their lifetime achievements in music. The induction ceremony and concert is held each year in Memphis. Since its establishment in 2012, the Hall of Fame has inducted more than 48 individuals or groups. It is administered by the non-profit Memphis Rock N' Soul Museum. Tomorrow Hit Today
''Tomorrow Hit Today'' is the fifth studio album by the grunge band Mudhoney. It was released by Reprise Records on September 22, 1998 (see 1998 in music). Barely selling 11,000 copies on its release this would be the last album the band would release with Reprise as well as a major label. Although the band retains their grunge sound on the album, a noticeable garage and blues influence can be heard. The album title is a reference to a song, "When Tomorrow Hits", off of their eponymous debut. This is also the last album to feature bass player Matt Lukin. The album was released on CD through Reprise and on Vinyl through Superelectro Sound Recordings. The album also gained a cassette release on the Philippines. In 2018, the album got a re-release on blue vinyl to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
