Roland Gäbler
Roland Gäbler (born 9 October 1964 in Bremen) is a German sailor and member in the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein as well as in the Kieler Yacht-Club. He competed in five Olympic Games. Roland Gäbler grew up in Bremen, where he started sailing on the river Weser. His talent for sailing was advanced by his parents, who bought him an old Laser. At the age of 14 he competed in his first regatta, one year later he won his first sailing competition. During his career in the Laser dinghy, Roland Gäbler won two European Championships and 14 international Championships. With 23 years Roland Gäbler switched the racing class to catamaran and sailed a Tornado, together with his Laser training partner Hans-Jürgen Pfohe. Both competed in the Kiel WeekMartina BrüskeAuf Titeljagd im Tornado In ''Welt Online'', June 17, 2007 and qualified straightaway for the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, however they won no medal. Tornado World Championship
The Tornado World Championship are international sailing regattas in the Tornado class organized by the International Sailing Federation and the International Tornado class Association. For the original open event, the most titles have been won by Australian sailor Darren Bundock, with seven titles between 1998 and 2009 and another two bronze medals. The second most titles have been won by Australian John Forbes, who has won six world titles and came 2nd twice, 3rd three times and a fourth, fifth and a sixth. The highest number of championships have been won by Australian sailors, with twelve titles, followed by British sailors, with six titles, and sailors from Germany, who have won five titles. Nahid Pachai Gäbler (born 7 June 1967 in Kolding, Denmark) is a Tornado (sailboat), Tornado World and European Champion and multiple mixed Tornado World and European Champion sailor.
