Roger Picard
Joseph Roger Adrien Picard (born January 13, 1935 ) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and minor league head coach who played 15 games in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played 15 games with the St. Louis Blues in the club's inaugural . Roger is the brother of NHL player Noel Picard, who he played with for the St. Louis Blues. Winger (ice Hockey)
Winger, in the game of ice hockey, is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is along the outer playing areas. They typically flank the centre forward. Originally the name was given to forward players who went up and down the sides of the rink. Wingers generally have the least defensive responsibilities out of any position on the ice, however they are still tasked with defensive duties such as forechecking duties or covering the point in the defensive zone. Nowadays, there are different types of wingers in the game — out-and-out goal scorers, checkers who disrupt the opponents, and forwards who work along the boards and in the corners. Omaha Knights
The Omaha Knights was the name of three minor league professional ice hockey teams from 1959 to 1965 and from 1966 to 1975, based in Omaha, Nebraska, at the Ak-Sar-Ben (arena), Ak-Sar-Ben Arena. The Knights were founded in 1959 as members of the International Hockey League (1945–2001), International Hockey League. Following the 1962-63 season the team moved to Toledo, Ohio, becoming the Toledo Blades. A new Knights team joined the Central Professional Hockey League for the 1963–64 CHL season, 1963-64 season. Granby Bisons
The Granby Bisons were a Canadian junior ice hockey team based in Granby, Quebec, and played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). They team was founded in 1981 in after the team moved from Sorel-Tracy, Quebec, where they had previously been known as the Sorel Éperviers. The Bisons played at Arena Leonard Grondin in Granby. In 1995 the team was renamed the Granby Prédateurs. As of 2019, the team is known as the Cape Breton Eagles. Notable former Bisons include Patrick Roy, Pierre Turgeon. The Quebec Junior A Hockey League (QJAHL) was a Canadian junior ice hockey league based in Quebec that operated from 1972 until 1982. The QJAHL was a member of Hockey Quebec and the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association and was eligible for the Dudley Hewitt Cup and Centennial Cup. History The Quebec Junior A Hockey League was formed in 1972 to give the Province of Quebec an entry in the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association's Centennial Cup playoffs. Luc Tardif finished the 1972–73 season as the top scorer and most valuable player in the east division of the QJAHL. In 1982, the QJAHL folded. Western Hockey League (1952–74)
The Western Hockey League (WHL) is a major junior ice hockey league based in Western Canada and the Northwestern United States. The WHL is one of three leagues that constitutes the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) as the highest level of junior hockey in Canada.
