Roger Dee Hambright (born March 26, 1949 in Sunnyside, Washington) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. Hambright played for the New York Yankees in . In 18 career games, he had a 3-1 record with a 4.39 ERA. He batted and threw right-handed. Hambright was drafted by the Yankees in the 67th round of the 1967 amateur draft. Pitcher
In baseball, the pitcher is the player who throws ("pitches") the baseball from the pitcher's mound toward the catcher to begin each play, with the goal of retiring a batter, who attempts to either make contact with the pitched ball or draw a walk. In the numbering system used to record defensive plays, the pitcher is assigned the number 1. The pitcher is often considered the most important player on the defensive side of the game, and as such is situated at the right end of the defensive spectrum. There are many different types of pitchers, such as the starting pitcher, relief pitcher, middle reliever, lefty specialist, setup man, and the closer. Traditionally, the pitcher also bats. Sunnyside is a city in Yakima County, Washington, United States. The population was 16,375 at the 2020 census. History Up through the early portion of the 19th century, the portion of the Yakima Valley where Sunnyside is now located was inhabited by the "Taptat-ħlama" (or ″People at the rapids"). These people hunted and fished along Yakima River from the mouth of Satus Creek (contained in present-day Satus immediately southwest of Sunnyside) to present Kiona, with a key fishery at near present-day Prosser. Several tribes in the region were relocated onto the Yakama Indian Reservation following the 1855 signing of a treaty with the federal government.
