Roger Awsumb
Roger Awsumb (July 10, 1928 – July 15, 2002) was an American television show host and radio broadcaster in Saint Paul and Brainerd, Minnesota. He is most known for his lead role in the children's television show he created, ''Lunch With Casey'', that aired on the Twin Cities area channel 11 from 1954 until 1973. Awsumb exemplified the pre-syndication era of local children's television that featured a lead performer-host in character – in Awsumb's case, as a railroad engineer. ''Mister Rogers' Neighborhood'' (sometimes shortened to ''Mister Rogers'') is an American half-hour educational children's television series that ran from 1968 to 2001, and was created and hosted by Fred Rogers. The series ''Misterogers'' debuted in Canada on October 15, 1962, on CBC Television. Minnesota Transportation Museum
The Minnesota Transportation Museum (MTM, reporting mark MNTX) is a transportation museum in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States. MTM operates several heritage transportation sites in Minnesota and one in Wisconsin. The museum is actively involved in preserving local railroad, bus and streetcar history. MTM was formed in 1962 to save a streetcar that had been built and operated by Twin City Rapid Transit (TCRT) in Minneapolis–St. Paul. Many of the museum's early members were formerly part of the Minnesota Railfans Association, which had organized railfan trips from the 1940s to the 1960s. Brainerd is a city in Crow Wing County, Minnesota, United States. Its population was 14,395 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Crow Wing County. Brainerd straddles the Mississippi River several miles upstream from its confluence with the Crow Wing River, having been founded as a site for a railroad crossing above the confluence. KLKS (100.1 FM; "Talk 100") is a radio station owned by Jimmy D. Birkemeyer's R & J Broadcasting and located in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota. It serves the Brainerd Lakes Area of central Minnesota. It is owned by R & J Broadcasting, Inc. Its sister stations are KKIN, KKIN-FM, KFGI, WWWI-FM, and WWWI. Ownership KLKS was built in 1983 by Allen Gray, who has a broadcasting career of 60 years. He was inducted into the Museum of Broadcasting Hall of Fame in 2001. The station, at the time operating on 104.3 FM in Breezy Point, had a full service programming format. In June 2012, it was announced that KLKS was being sold by Lakes Broadcasting Group, Inc. to Minnesota Christian Broadcasters.
