Rogelio Ordoñez
Rogelio Lunasco Ordoñez (born September 24, 1940 - May 19, 2016) also known as Ka Roger, was a multi-awarded Filipino fiction writer, poet, activist, journalist and educator. He was one of the authors of the iconic Tagalog language, Tagalog literature anthology ''Mga Agos sa Disyerto'' in the 1960s. He was a contributor to Liwayway Magazine, Pilipino Free Press, Asia-Philippines Leader, Pilosopong Tasyo, Diario Uno and Pinoy Weekly. Biography Early life and education Ordoñez was born in Alapan, Imus, Cavite. He studied at Mapua Institute of Technology and Manuel L. Quezon University and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Drawn to the Filipino literature that focused on the reality of life, especially about the workers and peasants and the downtrodden or the oppressed, Ordoñez concentrated in writing instead of practicing his degree. Nick Joaquin
Nicomedes "Nick" Marquez Joaquin (; May 4, 1917 – April 29, 2004) was a Filipino writer and journalist best known for his short stories and novels in the English language. He also wrote using the pen name Quijano de Manila. Joaquin was conferred the rank and title of National Artist of the Philippines for Literature. He has been considered one of the most important Filipino writers, along with José Rizal and Claro M. Recto. Unlike Rizal and Recto, whose works were written in Spanish, Joaquin's major works were written in English despite being a native Spanish speaker. Before becoming one of the leading practitioners of Philippine literature in English, he was a seminarian in Hong Kong – who later realized that he could better serve God and humanity by being a writer. Ave Perez Jacob is a Filipino writer, columnist, literary critic and novelist popular for his socio-political works. He was one of few Tagalog writers who popularized short stories with theme of injustice and tragedy set on the realistic portrayal of poverty during the 1960s. His short story "Guwardiya" won a Palanca Awards in 1975. He is also the author of the novel "Sibol sa mga Guho." Manuel "Manny" Buising (May 4, 1951 - May 18, 2020) was a multi-award winning playwright, fictionist and ''komiks'' writer. He studied at the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Education, Major in Filipino in 1972. He was the official screenplay writer of Fernando Poe Jr. from 1990 until the actor died in 2005. In the same year, his work, "Niños Inocentes," which exposes how minors are used by pedophiles through cybersex or sex videos, often with the knowledge and consent of their own parents, won the teleplay category in Carlos Palanca Awards.
