Roel Santos
Roel Santos Martinez (born May 22, 1987) is a Cuban professional baseball outfielder for the Olmecas de Tabasco of the Mexican League and the Alazanes de Granma of the Cuban National Series. He previously played for the Chiba Lotte Marines of Nippon Professional Baseball in 2017. Career Québec Capitales In 2016, Santos played for the Québec Capitales of the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball. In 78 games for Québec, Santos slashed .301/.370/.353 with 1 home run and 34 RBI. Chiba Lotte Marines On May 18, 2017, Santos signed with the Chiba Lotte Marines of Nippon Professional Baseball. In 66 games for the club, Santos hit .250/.282/.356 with 3 home runs and 8 RBI. Olmecas de Tabasco On June 21, 2019, Santos signed with the Olmecas de Tabasco of the Mexican League. Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases. As an outfielder, they normally play behind the six players located in the field. By convention, each of the nine defensive positions in baseball is numbered. 2023 World Baseball Classic
The 2023 World Baseball Classic (WBC), an international professional baseball tournament, is set to be the fifth iteration of the World Baseball Classic. It was originally set for 2021 (as per tradition to hold the event every four years), but was canceled in May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was later announced that qualifications for the Classic would start in September 2022, as agreed by Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA). The tournament is being expanded from 16 to 20 national teams, with all teams that participated in the 2017 edition automatically qualifying, plus four additional spots. Baseball at the 2019 Pan American Games was held from July 27 to August 4. The venue for the competition was the baseball stadium located at the Villa María del Triunfo cluster. The tournament was part of the 2019 edition of the Pan American Games, hosted by Lima, Peru. A total of eight men's teams (each consisting of up to 24 players) competed. Thus, a total of 192 athletes were scheduled to compete. After having been contested for the first time in 2015, women's baseball was dropped for this edition. It was the fourth iteration of the World Baseball Classic. The first-round hosts were Seoul, Tokyo, Miami, and Zapopan.
