Roel Rothkrans
Roel Rothkrans (born 31 January 1979) is a Dutch retired handball player. Career He went through the youth academy of Vlug en Lenig and was part of the first team from 1995 to 2001. In 2001 he moved to BFC where he played until 2005. After this he returned to Vlug en Lenig where he ended his playing career in 2008. After his career as a player, he became a coach and trained the second men's team of Vlug en Lenig from 2008, coming out in the 2nd Division. After the championship in this class with this team (2012), he stopped as an active trainer for a number of years. In 2016 he again became assistant coach of the women's team of Vlug en Lenig, succeeding Nick Onink.Versterkingen op komst voor handbalvrouwen V&L

Geleen (; li, Gelaen ) is a city in the southern part of the province of Limburg (Netherlands), Limburg in the Netherlands. With 31,670 inhabitants in 2020, it is part of the municipality of Sittard-Geleen. Geleen is situated along the river Geleenbeek, a right tributary to the river Meuse. The Latin name for Geleenbeek is ''Glana'', meaning "clear river". The town centre is situated at about 60 m above sea level. Vlug En Lenig
Vlug en Lenig is a Dutch handball club in Geleen. The club was founded on 1 September 1949. The men's team of V&L won the Dutch National Championship in 1982, 1983, 1984, 1986 and 2002. The club has participated in European club team tournaments several times. It has also won the national cup three times, in 1983, 1985 and 1994. In 2008, V&L co-operated with HV Sittardia and HV BFC to form a stronger men's team. The project was called ''Tophandbal Zuid-Limburg'' and two team were formed: Limburg Lions and Limburg Wild Dogs (later turned into the second team of Limburg Lions). In 2016, the management of BFC decided to take no longer part in the collabation. Also the woman's team of V&L has been successful, they won the Dutch National Championship in 1987 and 1990. In 2010, the woman's team promoted back to the eredivisie after one year of absence, where they have been a stable factor since.

Beekse Fusie Club
BFC is a handball club from Beek, Limburg. The club was founded in 1998 by a merger of HV Blauw-Wit from Neerbeek and HV Caesar from Beek. Since its foundation in 1998, neither the men's nor the woman's team won the championship or the national cup. The women's team was able to reach the finals of the national cup in 2006 but lost to Quintus. Because the team reached the finals of the national cup, they were allowed to enter the EHF Cup Winners' Cup, but were knocked out of the tournament after the first round. In 2008, BFC co-operated with V&L and HV Sittardia to form a stronger men's team. The project was called ''Tophandbal Zuid-Limburg'' and two new teams were formed: Limburg Lions and Limburg Wild Dogs (later turned into the second team of Limburg Lions). The Netherlands national handball team is the national handball team of Netherlands and is controlled by the Netherlands Handball Association. Unlike the very successful women's team, The Netherlands men's team qualified only once for the World Championships (1961) and twice for the European Championships (2020 & 2022). For the 2023 World Men's Handball Championship The Netherlands has received a wildcard. But the team is steadily closing the gap with the leading European teams. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team.
