Rody Nealon
Rhoderick Nealon (16 January 1898 – 29 November 1988) was an Irish hurler and Gaelic games administrator. His championship career with the Waterford, Kilkenny and Tipperary senior teams lasted from 1918 until 1925. Born in Newtown, County Tipperary, Nealon first played competitive hurling in his youth. He was educated at De La Salle College in Waterford where he featured prominently on the college hurling team. Nealon enjoyed a lengthy career with a variety of clubs, including De La Salle in Waterford, Mullinavat in Kilkenny and his home club of Youghalarra. With the latter he won a North Tipperary junior championship medal in 1931. As a student teacher in 1918, Nealon made his senior championship debut when he lined out with Waterford in their defeat by Limerick. Four years later he was included on the Kilkenny senior team. De La Salle GAA
De La Salle Gaelic football and hurling club is based in Waterford City, Ireland. The club competes in Gaelic games competitions organised by Waterford GAA board. The club has won the Waterford Senior Hurling Championship twice and the Waterford Senior Football Championship on 6 occasions. While having a notable record in gaelic football, today the club mainly focuses on hurling. History The club takes its name from St. Stephens De La Salle National School in Patrick Street and previous to the current club being established, fielded a hurling team under the name of St. Stephens. St. Stephens won 2 Senior County Hurling Championships, 1913 and 1914. In recent years the club has concentrated on developing juvenile players and now has one of the biggest under age setups in the South East of Ireland. All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship
The All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship was a hurling competition organized by the Gaelic Athletic Association in Ireland. The competition was originally contested by the second teams of the strong counties, and the first teams of the weaker counties. In the years from 1961 to 1973 and from 1997 until now, the strong counties have competed for the All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship instead. The competition was then restricted to the weaker counties. The competition was discontinued after 2004 as these counties now compete for the Nicky Rackard Cup instead. From 1974 to 1982, the original format of the competition was abandoned, and the competition was incorporated in Division 3 of the National Hurling League. The original format, including the strong hurling counties was re-introduced in 1983. Mullinavat Hurlers
Mullinavat () is a town in south County Kilkenny, Ireland. Its main industries are tourism and agriculture. It has a renowned sporting history, particularly in hurling. The town's name in Irish translates as 'The Mill of the Stick' which, according to local tradition, may refer to a mill which could only be approached by means of a rough stick over the Glendonnel River; today that bridge is located on the main road beside the Garda Barracks. Location and access The village is located centrally on the R448 Naas– Waterford road. The town was by-passed in July 2010 when the Kilkenny–Waterford section of the M9 opened. There are link roads to New Ross and Piltown from the town centre. The town is bounded by Killahy in the upper end of the parish to Fahee (Fahy) in the lower end, a distance of 11 km. Munster Junior Hurling Championship
The Munster Junior Hurling Championship is a junior "knockout" competition in the game of Hurling played in the province of Munster in Ireland. The series of games are organised by the Munster Council. The winners of the Munster Junior Hurling Championship each year progress to play the other provincial champions for a chance to win the All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship. Generally, the strong hurling counties have fielded their second team in this competition. In recent years though, they have participated in the Munster Intermediate Hurling Championship instead. The competition has been suspended and is unlikely to be re-established. In the years between 1961 and 1973 Kerry represented Munster in the All-Ireland Junior Hurling Championship. The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 1925 was the 39th series of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, Ireland's premier hurling knock-out competition. Tipperary won the championship, beating Galway 5-6 to 1-5 in the final.
