Rodrigo De Villa
''Rodrigo de Villa'' is an Indonesian-Philippine historical drama film released in 1952. It was co-produced by Philippine-based LVN Studio and Indonesia-based Persari. The film is the first international co-production done by a Filipino film studio with a studio outside the Philippines. Done in Ansco Color, the ''Rodrigo de Villa'' is the first Indonesian film production in color. Two versions of the film were made with each version having a different casting. The Philippine version was directed by Gregorio Fernandez while the Indonesian version was directed by Rempo Urip. Rempo Urip
Rempo Urip (10 July 1914 – 15 January 2001) was an Indonesian film director. He began his career in the theatre, serving as an extra and footballer for the Dardanella theatre company beginning in 1934. After six years and three troupes, Urip entered the film industry, working as a distributor for Oriental Film and assistant director for Java Industrial Film. He returned to the theatre during the Japanese occupation (1942–1945) and national revolution (1945–1949). In 1951 he joined Djamaluddin Malik's Persari as a director, completing thirteen films for the company before it closed in 1958. He continued as a freelance director until 1977. Biography Urip was born in Purworejo, Central Java, Dutch East Indies, on 10 July 1914. His father was a soldier of common birth. Astaman
Astaman (also known as Tirtosari; 1903–1980) was an Indonesian actor active from the 1910s until the mid-1970s. He was a leading actor in the influential theatre company Dardanella and, after entering the film industry with 1940s ''Kartinah'', acted in 43 films. Biography Astaman was born in 1900 in Sidoarjo, East Java, Dutch East Indies, the son of an actor named Wagimin, and his wife, an actress. He attended elementary school there, only to drop out in his third year. At age ten Astaman joined his father's troupe Wagimin & Keluarga, which consisted of his father, mother, and two cousins. Astaman first sold tickets, later taking up acting and touring rural areas in East Java with the troupe. Sumiarto Suharto (born Troely Callebaut; 8 June 1928 – 1 May 1971), better known by the stage name Mimi Mariani, was an Indonesian actress, model, and singer who was of mixed Belgian, Dutch, and Manado heritage.
