Rodney Pratt
Rodney Lynes Pratt (born 15 November 1938) is a former English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Leicestershire County Cricket Club, Leicestershire between 1955 and 1964. He was a right-handed lower-order batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler. He was born at Stoney Stanton in Leicestershire. Cricket career Pratt was just 16 when he made his first-class cricket debut for Leicestershire in 1955, and only 17 when he took 10 Somerset County Cricket Club, Somerset wickets for a total of 60 runs in a match in 1956. But after this promising start he largely disappeared from county cricket for the next three seasons, making only occasional appearances for Leicestershire while he was doing his National Service, but playing also in a handful of first-class games for the Combined Services cricket team. Stoney Stanton
Stoney Stanton is a large village in the Blaby district of Leicestershire, England with a population of over 3,454 in 2001, increasing to 3,793 at the 2011 census. It constitutes a civil parish. The village lies some five miles east of Hinckley, just to the east of the M69. Nearby villages include Croft and Sapcote. It is some ten miles from Leicester. As may be gathered from its name it is set on rocky outcrops of igneous rock, granodiorite, a fact which has had its influence on its history. Even in the eighteenth century, Parish records show that gravel and stone were being removed from Carey (or quarry) Hill in the centre of the village. That would later, in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries be quarried for its valuable stone, along with Lanes Hill (now the water-sports & diving centre known as Stoney Cove), Clint Hill, and Hall's Court. Terry Spencer
Charles Terence Spencer (18 August 1931 – 2 February 2020) was an English first-class cricketer who played for Leicestershire County Cricket Club, Leicestershire. Only Ewart Astill and George Geary have taken more wickets for Leicestershire. His career best figures of 9-63 were made in 1954 against Yorkshire. He is the nephew of Leicestershire fast bowler Haydon Smith. Early career Terry Spencer began playing for club side, Leicester Veronique, and was summoned to Grace Road, where Geary helped tune his action. He made his debut against Cambridge University at Fenner's in 1952, taking one wicket. The Friends Provident Trophy was a one-day cricket competition in the United Kingdom. It was one of the four tournaments in which the eighteen first-class counties competed each season. They were joined by teams from Scotland and Ireland. Lancashire won the title a record seven times. The competition has previously been known as the C&G Trophy (2000–2006), the NatWest Trophy (1981–2000) and the Gillette Cup (1963–1980). The County Championship (referred to as the LV= Insurance County Championship for sponsorship reasons) is the domestic first-class cricket competition in England and Wales and is organised by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). Glamorgan County Cricket Club ( cy, Criced Morgannwg) is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Glamorgan ( cy, Morgannwg). Founded in 1888, Glamorgan held minor status at first and was a prominent member of the early Minor Counties Championship before the First World War.
