Roderick Duchâtelet (born 1972) is a Belgian businessman, the current president of Újpest FC. His father, Roland Duchâtelet, is the seventh richest man in Belgium. Business activities On 19 October 2011, Roderick purchased the 95% of stakes of the Hungarian association football club Újpest FC. Roderick was the director and stakeholder of Germinal Beerschot until 2010. Family Duchâtelet's wife, Valérie Gys, is the financial director of the Újpest FC. Újpest Football Club () is a Hungarian professional association football, football club, based in Újpest, Budapest, that competes in Nemzeti Bajnokság I. Formed in 1885, Újpest reached the first division of the Hungarian League in Nemzeti Bajnokság I 1905, 1905 and has been relegated only once since then. The club has been a member of the first division for 108 consecutive years. Újpest have been Hungarian champions twenty times, and have won the Magyar Kupa eleven times and the Szuperkupa three times. Roland Duchâtelet (; born 14 November 1946) is a Belgian businessman and politician. He is the owner of football clubs Carl Zeiss Jena and Újpest. He is the founder of the social-liberal political party Vivant in Belgium. Business In 1990, he became involved in micro-electronics. He founded several multinational corporations, of which semi-conductor producer Melexis is the best known. Other corporations include X-Fab, which also produces semi-conductors, Epiq, which produces electronic systems, the online-television channel TVLokaal.com, and the holding company Elex. Koninklijke Beerschot Antwerpen Club (), simply known as Beerschot AC, was a Belgian football club based in southern Antwerp. FC Carl Zeiss Jena is a German football club based in Jena, Thuringia.
