Rod Evans
Roderic Evans (born 19 January 1947) is a British former singer. In the late 1960s, he began his professional career in The Maze, formerly MI5, after which he was a member of the original Deep Purple line-up, who produced three studio albums with a more progressive and pop-driven sound. After recording a solo single, he was a member of the original Captain Beyond line-up that produced two studio albums. Following a legal battle with Deep Purple in 1980, Evans turned reclusive and disappeared from public life. Early career Evans was born in Eton, Berkshire, Eton, Buckinghamshire. He played together with drummer Ian Paice in The Maze, formerly MI5. He was also in a band called The Horizons in the mid 1960s. Eton ( ) is a town in Berkshire, England, on the opposite bank of the River Thames to Windsor, connected to it by Windsor Bridge. ''Inglewood: Live in California'' is a live album by Deep Purple. It was recorded in Los Angeles on 18 October 1968, as the supporting band for Cream (band), Cream, at their Farewell Tour. One of the very few live recordings featuring the List of Deep Purple band members#"Mark" numbers, Mark I lineup, it was finally released in 2002 on Purple Records. Notes on the source recording The source of this recording is the mono audio track of a primitive open-reel video recording made by Purple's US label at the time, Tetragrammaton Records. The video recording was made from the audience with a (then) state-of-the-art Sony 1/2 inch reel-to-reel videotape recorder and portable camera, with an open air microphone to capture the sound. Larry "Rhino" Reinhardt (July 7, 1948 – January 2, 2012) was an American rock guitarist who played with Iron Butterfly and Captain Beyond. At one time Reinhardt was known by the nicknames "El Rhino" and "Ryno". Early history Born in Florida, United States, Reinhardt started his musical career in the 1960s in the Bradenton-Sarasota, Florida area. He worked with several bands, the most well-known of which was The Thunderbeats. In 1969, Reinhardt, along with bassist Richard Price and drummer Ramone Sotolongo, formed a "power trio" called The Load. The band landed a house gig in Gainesville, at a club called Dubs. Lee Dorman
Douglas Lee Dorman (September 15, 1942 – December 21, 2012) was an American bass guitarist best known as a member of the psychedelic rock band Iron Butterfly. After replacing Jerry Penrod following Iron Butterfly’s debut album, Dorman had four stints with the group; 1967 to 1971, 1977 to 1978, 1978 to 1985, and from 1987 until his death in 2012. Shortly after his first departure from Iron Butterfly in 1971, Dorman co-founded the band Captain Beyond with ex-Deep Purple lead vocalist Rod Evans, Dorman’s Butterfly band mate Larry Reinhardt, and Bobby Caldwell. Dorman was raised in St. Louis, Missouri, and moved to San Diego in the 1960s. He began playing bass guitar in his teens. Bobby Caldwell (drummer)
Bobby Caldwell is an American drummer, songwriter, producer and arranger who co-founded the rock bands Captain Beyond (with Rod Evans) and Armageddon (with Keith Relf) during the early 1970s. Prior to these projects he played on seminal Johnny Winter albums such as ''Live Johnny Winter And'' and '' Saints and Sinners''. Caldwell was also the drummer on Rick Derringer's '' All American Boy,'' which produced the classic-rock radio staple "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo", a song originally written by Derringer and recorded by the band, Johnny Winter And, with Derringer's brother, Randy Z on drums. He also played with John Lennon, Ringo Starr and Eric Clapton. Caldwell and Rick Derringer recorded "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo" at Caribou Ranch in Colorado. Johnny Winter
John Dawson Winter III (February 23, 1944 – July 16, 2014) was an American singer and guitarist. Winter was known for his high-energy blues rock albums and live performances in the late 1960s and 1970s. He also produced three Grammy Award-winning albums for blues singer and guitarist Muddy Waters. After his time with Waters, Winter recorded several Grammy-nominated blues albums. John Douglas Lord (9 June 194116 July 2012) was an English orchestral and rock composer, pianist, and Hammond organ player known for his pioneering work in fusing rock with classical or baroque forms, especially with the British rock band Deep Purple. Ritchie Blackmore
Richard Hugh Blackmore (born 14 April 1945) is an English guitarist and songwriter. He was a founding member of Deep Purple in 1968, playing jam-style hard rock music that mixed guitar riffs and organ sounds. He is prolific in creating guitar riffs and classically influenced solos.
