Rod Davis (gridiron Football)
Rod Davis (born April 2, 1981) is a professional gridiron football linebacker who is currently a free agent. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings. He played college football for the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles football, Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles. Davis has played for the Carolina Panthers, Philadelphia Soul, Edmonton Eskimos, Montreal Alouettes, and Calgary Stampeders. Early years He went on to play at Central Junior High and Gulfport High School where he played for the Admirals, before he went to for Southern Mississippi. In 2002, he won the Conerly Trophy as the best college football player in the state of Mississippi. College career While at Southern Mississippi, Davis recorded four interceptions. Rod Davis (sailor)
Roderick Hopkins Davis (born August 27, 1955 in the United States) is a former competitive sailor who won Olympic medals for two countries. At the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, representing the United States, he won the gold medal in the Soling class along with Robert Haines and Edward Trevelyan. After moving to New Zealand he was chosen to represent that country at the next three Olympic Games. Along with Don Cowie he won a silver medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain in the Star class. Davis and Cowie finished fifth at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta and were also fifth in the Soling class at Sydney along with 3rd crewman Alan Smith. Davis began his involvement with the America's Cup in 1977, sailing with Lowell North on ''Enterprise'' during the 1977 America's Cup defense trials. The Quarrymen
The Quarrymen (also written as "the Quarry Men") are a British skiffle/rock and roll group, formed by John Lennon in Liverpool in 1956, which evolved into the Beatles in 1960. Originally consisting of Lennon and several schoolfriends, the Quarrymen took their name from a line in the school song of their school, the Quarry Bank High School. Lennon's mother, Julia, taught her son to play the banjo, showed Lennon and Eric Griffiths how to tune their guitars in a similar way to the banjo, and taught them simple chords and songs. Lennon founded a skiffle group that was briefly called the Blackjacks, but they changed the name before any public performances. Some accounts credit Lennon with choosing the new name; other accounts credit his close friend Pete Shotton with suggesting the name.
