Rocks (song)
"Rocks" is a song by Scottish rock band Primal Scream, taken from their fourth studio album, ''Give Out But Don't Give Up'' (1994). This song was the first indication of Primal Scream's change in musical style, when compared to their previous album, 1991's ''Screamadelica'', which featured dance leanings. "Rocks" (and the whole ''Give Out But Don't Give Up'' album) features a more classic rock structure inspired by artists such as T. Rex, the Rolling Stones, and Faces. Faces singer Rod Stewart would later cover the song himself, including it on his 1998 album ''When We Were the New Boys''. "Rocks" was released as a single on 28 February 1994 and reached number seven on the UK Singles Chart, acting as a double A-side with another of the band's songs, "Funky Jam". Primal Scream
Primal Scream are a Scottish rock band originally formed in 1982 in Glasgow by Bobby Gillespie (vocals) and Jim Beattie. The band's current lineup consists of Gillespie, Andrew Innes (guitar), Simone Butler (bass), and Darrin Mooney (drums). Barrie Cadogan has toured and recorded with the band since 2006 as a replacement after the departure of guitarist Robert "Throb" Young. Primal Scream had been performing live from 1982 to 1984, but their career did not take off until Gillespie left his position as drummer of The Jesus and Mary Chain. The band were a key part of the mid-1980s indie pop scene, but eventually moved away from their jangly sound, taking on more psychedelic and garage rock influences, before incorporating a dance music element to their sound with their 1991 album '' Screamadelica'', which broke them into the mainstream. ''When We Were the New Boys'' is the eighteenth studio album by Rod Stewart released on 29 May 1998. It was Stewart's last studio album to be released by Warner Bros. Records. It produced the singles " Ooh La La", " Rocks", and "When We Were the New Boys". Background ''When We Were the New Boys'' was the first album by Stewart to not be released on vinyl. The tracks are mostly covers, such as " Cigarettes & Alcohol" by Oasis, "Rocks" by Primal Scream, "Hotel Chambermaid" by Graham Parker, and "Superstar" by the band Superstar. ''DV'' (''Dagblaðið Vísir'') is an online newspaper in Iceland published by Torg ehf. It came into existence as a daily newspaper in 1981 when two formerly independent newspapers, Vísir and Dagblaðið, merged. Early on it was one of the largest newspapers in Iceland and at one point had a 64% readership in Iceland. In the 1990s its readership started to dwindle and in 2003 its publisher was declared bankrupt. It was resurrected a week later by the publisher of Fréttablaðið. In 2006 it was changed from a daily newspaper into a weekly one. Since then it has changed publishers regularly and in 2018 its publisher, DV ehf., went bankrupt.
