''Rockpalast'' (''Rock Palace'') is a German music television show that broadcasts live on German television station Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR). ''Rockpalast'' started in 1974 and continues to this day. Hundreds of rock, heavy metal and jazz bands have performed on ''Rockpalast''. Some acts were recorded for broadcast and for retail sale. Peter Rüchel
Peter Rüchel (9 March 1937 – 20 February 2019) was a German music journalist, producer and founder of the WDR show Rockpalast, which since the mid-1970s has been hosting concerts by national and international bands and solo artists and broadcast them on German and European television. Life and career Rüchel was born in Berlin in 1937 as the son of a violinist (the father was head of a musical quartet before the war) and a teacher. He grew up in West Berlin and attended a humanities-oriented gymnasium with subjects such as Latin, Greek, classical music, literature and theatre. At age 16, he was an exchange student for a year in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After graduating he studied German studies and philosophy. In 1968 he applied to Sender Freies Berlin (SFB). Alan Bangs
Alan John Bangs (born 10 June 1951 in London) is a British music journalist, disc jockey and presenter on radio and television. He has lived and worked in Germany since the 1970s. Life and career Bangs earned a diploma in Communication Studies from the Polytechnic of Central London (PCL), now University of Westminster. His career began at BFBS Germany, where he presented from 1975 to 1989, first on Sundays, and from about 1981 at Saturday nights in the music programme ''Night Flight'', which didn't fit into any standard drawers. Albrecht Metzger (born 1945 in Unteraichen near Stuttgart) is a German journalist, actor, television presenter, film director and cabaretist. Life and career Albrecht Metzger was editor of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk, SDR youth program ''Jour Fix'' and moderator of ''Diskuss'' and ''Teamwörk'' in the 1970s before he became known to a broader public through the rock music program Rockpalast of the Westdeutscher Rundfunk, WDR. Forrest Richard Betts (born December 12, 1943) is an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, and composer best known as a founding member of The Allman Brothers Band. Early in his career, he collaborated with Duane Allman, introducing melodic twin guitar harmony and counterpoint which "rewrote the rules for how two rock guitarists can work together, completely scrapping the traditional rhythm/lead roles to stand toe to toe". The Band of Heathens are an American rock and roll band from Austin, Texas. The band was originally formed by Colin Brooks, Ed Jurdi and Gordy Quist in 2005.
