Rockingham County Baseball League
The Rockingham County Baseball League is a summer baseball league in Rockingham County, Virginia and neighboring areas. It was founded in 1924, and has included teams from across Rockingham County and up and down the Shenandoah Valley. As of 2023, the league has 8 teams and has a 28-game regular season schedule where every team plays each other 4 times. The first round of the playoffs is the best out of three games, the second round is best out of five games, and the third and final round is best out of seven games. Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams of nine players each, taking turns batting and fielding. The game occurs over the course of several plays, with each play generally beginning when a player on the fielding team, called the pitcher, throws a ball that a player on the batting team, called the batter, tries to hit with a bat. The objective of the offensive team (batting team) is to hit the ball into the field of play, away from the other team's players, allowing its players to run the bases, having them advance counter-clockwise around four bases to score what are called " runs". Lorenzo Bundy
Charles Lorenzo Bundy (born November 6, 1959) is a former Minor League Baseball player and current manager of the Winston-Salem Dash, the High-A Chicago White Sox affiliate. He has held Major League Baseball coaching positions with the Colorado Rockies, Arizona Diamondbacks, Los Angeles Dodgers and Miami Marlins. Playing career He attended James Madison University, where he was a standout first baseman and ranks second on the school's all-time home run list. Bundy was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 22nd round of the 1977 MLB draft but did not sign. After college he signed with the Texas Rangers as an undrafted free agent and also spent time in the Pittsburgh Pirates and Montreal Expos systems. Chase DeLauter
Chase Daniel DeLauter (born October 8, 2001) is an American professional baseball outfielder in the Cleveland Guardians organization. Amateur career DeLauter attended Hedgesville High School in Hedgesville, West Virginia, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. In 2018, as a junior, he batted .500 and also pitched to a 1.95 ERA with 64 strikeouts. As a senior in 2019, he went 9-2 with a 0.84 ERA over 66 innings alongside hitting .606 with eight home runs, 52 RBIs, and 21 doubles. He was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of West Virginia. After graduating high school, DeLauter enrolled at James Madison University to play college baseball. Brenton Edward Doyle (born May 14, 1998) is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Colorado Rockies of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2023. Amateur career Doyle was born and grew up in Warrenton, Virginia and attended Kettle Run High School. He was named the 3A East Region Player of the Year as junior after batting .443. Erik Floyd Kratz (born June 15, 1980) is an American former professional baseball catcher who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Philadelphia Phillies, Toronto Blue Jays, Kansas City Royals, Houston Astros, Milwaukee Brewers, San Francisco Giants, Tampa Bay Rays, and New York Yankees during an 11-year career.
