Rockford Central High School
Rockford High School (sometimes referred to as Rockford Central High School) was the first school opened by the newly formed, citywide, school district, Rockford Public School District 205 in Rockford, Illinois. Opened in 1885, it served as a high school from 1885 until 1940, then as the administration offices of the school district until 2011. It was sold to the City of Rockford in 2014, and demolished in 2015 as part of a redevelopment project. History Prior to providing a central location for education, students attended two separate school districts, one located on the east side of the Rock River, the other on the west side. These school districts were established in 1854, and opened buildings in 1857. By 1862, each district had established a high school, creating an east-vs-west rivalry that would continue for 22 years. Rudd-Rockford-Marble Rock Community School District (RRMR) is a rural public school district headquartered in Rockford, Iowa. It operates the RRMR Elementary School/Preschool and RRMR Junior-Senior High School, both in Rockford. The district is mostly in Floyd County with sections in Cerro Gordo and Mitchell counties. In addition to Rockford, it serves Marble Rock and Rudd. History In 2008, Keith Turner became the principal of the RRMR secondary school, and he was named superintendent, with his secondary principal duties continuing, in 2014. In 2017, Turner asked the school board to consider enacting an agreement with another school district to share superintendents. The district is also, as a way to reduce expenses, considering establishing a solar panel array. Floyd County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. As of the 2020 census, the population was 15,627. The county seat is Charles City. History Floyd County was established in 1854 and was named for Sergeant Charles Floyd of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, who died in 1804 near what is now Sioux City, Iowa, and who was the only member to die on the Expedition. The first school in the county was taught at Nora Springs in 1854. The second was opened at Charles City, the third at Floyd.
