Rockbank, Victoria
Rockbank is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Melton local government area. Rockbank recorded a population of 2,583 at the 2021 census. Rockbank Post Office opened on 1 January 1862. The area lies east of the satellite city of Melton and west of the suburb of Caroline Springs. The land contains many large volcanic rocks making it poor for cultivating crops. The rocks have been used to build walls between paddocks – characteristic of the area west of Melbourne. Mount Cottrell is the highest land point in the vicinity. The railway station is on the Melton line. Rockbank is also served by Public Transport Victoria route 456 which runs along the Western Freeway, linking Melton and Sunshine. The electoral district of Kororoit is an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Assembly covering Albanvale, Victoria, Albanvale, Caroline Springs, Victoria, Caroline Springs as well as some parts of Deer Park, Victoria, Deer Park and St Albans, Victoria, St Albans in the western suburbs of Melbourne. Netball is a ball sport played on a court by two teams of seven players. It is among a rare number of sports which have been created exclusively for female competitors. Riddell District Football League
The Riddell District Football Netball League (RDFNL) is an Australian rules football and netball league in Victoria, Australia. The RDFNL covers towns in the Macedon Ranges and an area from Rockbank in the south to Broadford in the north. The league also runs junior competitions from Under 10 to Under 18 age groups. Brief history 1970s This decade saw Hesket club go into recess and the introduction of new clubs Craigieburn, Melton and Melton South. William Cross Yuille
William Cross Yuille (28 March 1819 – 19 July 1894) was a Scottish Australian pastoralist notable as, after immigrating to Australia, as a founder of Ballarat as well as for his role in the establishment of the Victorian horse racing. Life Yuille was baptised on 28 March 1819 in Glasgow, Scotland. Yuille was educated in Glasgow and was apprenticed for three years in the West India house of Messrs Ewing and Co. of Glasgow. He sailed from Liverpool on 23 August 1836 aged 17 on the ''Statesman'' (345 tons), commanded by Captain Rowlett. The ship landed in Hobart Town, Van Diemens Land on 9 December 1836.
