Rockaway Avenue (BMT Fulton Street Line)
The Rockaway Avenue station was a station on the demolished BMT Fulton Street Line in Brooklyn, New York City, served by the 13 train throughout its existence. It had two tracks and two side platforms, and a center island platform. It also had a connection to the Wilson Avenue Line trolleys. Rockaway Avenue was the easternmost station on the line until it was expanded to Atlantic Avenue on July 4, 1889. BMT Fulton Street Line
The Fulton Street Line, also called the Fulton Street Elevated or Kings County Line, was an elevated rail line mostly in Brooklyn, New York City, United States. It ran above Fulton Street (Brooklyn), Fulton Street from Fulton Ferry, Brooklyn in Downtown Brooklyn east to East New York, Brooklyn, East New York, and then south on Van Sinderen Avenue (southbound) and Snediker Avenue (northbound), east on Pitkin Avenue, north on Euclid Avenue, and east on Liberty Avenue to Ozone Park, Queens. The Rockaway Avenue station is a local station on the IND Fulton Street Line of the New York City Subway. Located at the intersection of Rockaway Avenue and Fulton Street in Brooklyn, it is served by the C train at all times except nights, when the A train takes over service. History When it opened on April 9, 1936, Rockaway Avenue was the terminal for IND Fulton Street Line. During this time, there was a diamond crossover between the express tracks north of the station and trains stub ended here. Between the express and local tracks in the area of the crossover were extra columns to support the subway ceiling to make up for the lack of columns that would have between the express tracks, which were not built due to the installation of the crossover. The IND Fulton Street Line is a rapid transit line of the IND Division of the New York City Subway, running from the Cranberry Street Tunnel under the East River through all of central Brooklyn to a terminus in Ozone Park, Queens. The IND Rockaway Line branches from it just east of Rockaway Boulevard. The A train runs express during daytime hours and local at night on the underground portion of the line; it runs local on the elevated portion of the line at all times. Atlantic Avenue (BMT Fulton Street Line)
The Atlantic Avenue station is a rapid transit station on the BMT Canarsie Line, a part of the New York City Subway system. Located at the intersection of Atlantic and Snediker Avenues at East New York, Brooklyn, it is served by the L train at all times. History Atlantic Avenue opened July 4, 1889, for the BMT Fulton Street Line portion and on July 28, 1906, for the BMT Canarsie Line portion. The Fulton Street Line platforms closed April 26, 1956. 13 was the BMT's designation for service on the BMT Fulton Street Line, not to be confused with today's IND Fulton Street Line, which uses a portion of the old BMT line at its east end. The Wilson Avenue Line is a public transit line in Brooklyn, New York City, running along Wilson Avenue and Rockaway Avenue between Williamsburg and Canarsie. Originally a streetcar line, it is now the B60 bus route, operated by MTA New York City Bus. Route description The B60 bus route starts at Williamsburg Bridge Plaza near the Marcy Avenue station.
