Rock Your Face Off
''Rock Your Face Off'' is the seventh and final studio album by the American rock band KIX. It is KIX's first studio release in 19 years since their 1995 album '' Show Business''. It is Kix's first studio release with bassist Mark Schenker replacing the band's primary songwriter Donnie Purnell. Producer Taylor Rhodes co-wrote three of the album's songs, while former Funny Money guitarist Rob Galpin and Craig Stegall also get co-writing credits. The album debuted at #48 on the Billboard Top 200, the second highest charting record ever for KIX next to 'Blow My Fuse'. Kix (band)
Kix (sometimes stylized as KIX) is an American glam metal and hard rock band that achieved popularity during the 1980s. Led by frontman Steve Whiteman and bassist Donnie Purnell, the band's classic lineup was rounded out by drummer Jimmy "Chocolate" Chalfant and guitarists Ronnie "10/10" Younkins and Brian "Damage" Forsythe. Kix covered AC/DC, Aerosmith, April Wine, Led Zeppelin, and others before signing with Atlantic Records in 1981. Glam Metal
Glam metal (also known as hair metal or pop metal) is a subgenre of heavy metal that features pop-influenced hooks and guitar riffs, upbeat rock anthems, and slow power ballads. It borrows heavily from the fashion and image of 1970s glam rock. Early glam metal evolved directly from the glam rock movement of the 1970s, as visual elements taken from acts such as T. Hard Rock
Hard rock or heavy rock is a loosely defined subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and distorted electric guitars. Hard rock began in the mid-1960s with the garage, psychedelic and blues rock movements. Some of the earliest hard rock music was produced by the Kinks, the Who, The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Cream, Vanilla Fudge, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. ''Show Business'' (''stylized'' as $how Bu$ine$$) is the sixth album by the American hard rock band Kix. It was released in 1995 through CMC International, following their departure from Atlantic Records. Kix supported the album with a North American tour. The album was a commercial flop. ''Show Business'' was the band's last album before their long-term breakup. Critical reception ''Rolling Stone'' wrote that "there remains something oddly lovable about this goofy group of hard-rock power popsters who seem to have been going at it forever with only limited commercial success." Funny Money is an American Rock music, rock band. They played at multiple venues in the Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania area. They played a mix of Kix (band), Kix covers as well as original material. History Early years Funny Money was founded in 1996 in Maryland by lead vocalist Steve Whiteman of Piedmont, WV and guitarist Billy Andrews, who met at a charity gig in Baltimore. Taylor Laurence Rhodes is an American songwriter, producer, and musician from Nashville, Tennessee, most notable for his work with hard rock band Aerosmith since 1993. Music career 1980s In 1987, Rhodes co-wrote the lead-off minor hit title track from Y&T's album ''Contagious''. The following year, he co-wrote a single on fellow glam metal band Kix's commercial breakthrough album, ''Blow My Fuse''. Steve Whiteman
Steve Whiteman (born August 28, 1956) is an American rock vocalist, best known for being the lead singer of Kix (band), Kix. Biography Early years Whiteman first realized his love for music at a young age, as a child, he would hurry home from church to play, by ear, the hymnals he'd heard during Sunday service. He started his music career playing drums in a Led Zeppelin cover band. Kix Whiteman was recruited to join Kix in 1978 while they were known as "The Shooze". Whiteman and then-drummer Donnie Spence would alternate between who would drum and who would sing until it was decided that since Whiteman could hit the harder notes that he should stay as lead singer, Spence would soon leave in 1979 and be replaced by current-drummer Jimmy "Chocolate" Chalfant.
