Rock Ridge Public Schools
Rock Ridge Public Schools is a school district based in Virginia, Minnesota and Eveleth, Minnesota. It is assigned the designation of Independent School District (ISD) 2909 by the State of Minnesota. Ground was broken for the new Rock Ridge High School on August 5, 2020. It is set to open in the fall of 2023. Rock Ridge Superintendent Noel Schmidt claims this new school will be the most impressive school north of St. Cloud. The mascot for the district is a Wolverine. Virginia is a city in St. Louis County, Minnesota, United States, on the Mesabi Iron Range. With an economy heavily reliant on large-scale iron ore mining, Virginia is considered the Mesabi Range's commercial center. The population was 8,423 at the 2020 census. Virginia is just south of the Superior National Forest and about south of the Canada–United States border at International Falls, Minnesota, and northwest of Duluth, Minnesota. Virginia is a part of the Duluth metropolitan area and U.S. Highway 53 runs through town. Eveleth, Minnesota
Eveleth is a city in St. Louis County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 3,718 at the 2010 census. U.S. Highway 53 and State Highway 37 (MN 37) are two of the main routes in Eveleth. Eveleth was the site of the conflict that resulted in the court case ''Jenson v. Eveleth Taconite Co.'', and the film based on it, '' North Country''. The United States Hockey Hall of Fame is in Eveleth. Eveleth is part of the Quad Cities, with Virginia, Gilbert, and Mountain Iron. History The Village of Eveleth was platted on April 22, 1893, originally about southwest of the present location, on land then included in the Adams-Spruce Mine (Douglas Avenue between Jones and Monroe Streets). The community was named after Erwin Eveleth, a prominent employee of a timber company in the area. In 1895, iron ore was discovered beneath the village site and a post office was established. Virginia High School, home of the Blue Devils, educates students grades 712 in Virginia, Minnesota, United States. It is a public high school with open enrollment located across from the Saint Louis County District Courthouse on scenic 5th Avenue. Virginia High School has a strong music department known for the Marching Blues, the school's marching band. The A Capella choir is directed by Matthew Krage. The high school also participates in Minnesota State High School League sports such as hockey, basketball, volleyball, tennis, football, track & field, cross country, baseball, swimming, golf, soccer and wrestling.
