Rock Me (Riva Song)
"Rock Me" was the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 1989, performed by Riva, representing , the only time that the country won the contest. It was originally performed in Croatian, but the lead vocalist Emilija Kokić sang it in English during the winners' encore. The song's victory led to international awareness of Yugoslav and Croatian rock. Riva's frontwoman Kokić continued to appear in various shows but had no significant success after the 1989 victory. The song was succeeded as winner in by Toto Cutugno representing with " Insieme: 1992". It was succeeded as Yugoslav representative that year by Tajči with "Hajde da ludujemo". Riva was a Croatian pop band formed in Zadar in 1986. After forming in 1986, the band appeared on Zagrebfest 1988, Performing with the song “Zadnja Suza” (“Last Tear in Croatian). Their song " Rock Me" won the Eurovision Song Contest 1989 in Switzerland, with a score of 137 points. Rajko Dujmić (7 August 1954 – 4 August 2020) was a Croatian songwriter, composer and music producer best known as a member of the pop group Novi fosili. He composed the winner entry of Eurovision Song Contest 1989, " Rock me", along with Stevo Cvikić. They also composed the two previous Yugoslavian entries, "Ja sam za ples", sung by Novi fosili, and "Mangup", sung by Srebrna Krila. He received the Porin award for lifetime achievement at the Croatian music awards in 2013. Personal life He married his wife Snježana on 2 December 1990. He had a son Tin from a previous marriage.
