Rochford Hundred Rugby Club
Rochford Hundred Rugby Club is an English rugby union club based in Hawkwell near Rochford in Essex. The first XV team currently play in Regional 1 South East, having been relegated from the National League 2 East. The club also operates other adult teams and a full academy set-up of junior teams for both boys and girls. Current standings History Foundation The foundations of Rochford Hundred date back to November 1961 when two rugby players, John Roden and Ernie Mills, met at the White Hart in Hawkwell to discuss plans for setting up a local rugby side, having both played for other Essex and London based clubs. The club held its inaugural meeting at the Bull Inn on the 4 January 1962. Further meetings secured the use of disused Rocheway School as its first ground, while the club name 'Rochford Hundred' was thought up by John Roden after he saw a poster advertising the Rochford Hundred Licensed Victuallers Association. Essex Rugby Football Union
The Essex Rugby Football Union is the governing body for the sport of rugby union in the county of Essex in England. The union is the constituent body of the Rugby Football Union (RFU) for Essex, and administers and organises rugby union clubs and competitions in the county. It also administers the Essex county rugby representative teams. History The Essex RFU was established in 1885. The first recorded match played by an Essex representative team was actually held a year before the union was created, when they lost to a representative team from neighbouring Suffolk at Chelmsford in 1884. In December 1890 Essex would join with Suffolk and Norfolk to form the Eastern Counties Rugby Union, with Cambridgeshire joining later in 1920 and would participate in the County Championship. London 2 North East
London 2 North East is an English level 7 Rugby Union League. When this division began in 1987 it was known as London 3 North East, changing to its current name ahead of the 2009–10 season. It is made up of teams predominantly from north east London, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex. The twelve teams play home and away matches from September through to April. Each year all clubs in the division also take part in the RFU Intermediate Cup - a level 7 national competition. Promoted teams move up to London 1 North with the league champions going up automatically and the runners up entering a promotion playoff against the league runners up from London 2 North West. Relegated teams from Cambridgeshire, Suffolk or Norfolk drop to London 3 Eastern Counties, while Essex and London teams drop to London 3 Essex. Hockley Railway Station (Essex)
Hockley railway station is on the Shenfield to Southend Line in the East of England, serving the village of Hockley, Essex. It is down the line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between to the west and to the east. The Engineer's Line Reference for the line is SSV; the station's three-letter station code is HOC. The two platforms have an operational length for 12-coach trains. History The line from Wickford to Southend and Hockley station were opened on 1 October 1889. London 3 North East
London 3 North East was an English rugby union league that was the eighth level of club rugby union in England and was available to sides from north east London, Essex, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. Promoted clubs move into London 2 North East. Relegated teams tended to drop to Eastern Counties 1 or Essex 1 depending on geographical location, with new teams also coming from these leagues. The league was discontinued at the end of the 2016–17 season as the RFU decided to instead create two new leagues - London 3 Eastern Counties and London 3 Essex - to reduce travelling times for teams involved.
