Robin Parfitt
Robin Parfitt (December 22, 1946 – August 17, 2006) was an educator and headmaster of Danes Hill School. Born in 1946 in Rhydyfelin, Pontypridd, he was educated at Loughborough Grammar School and studied history and music at University College, Cardiff, before gaining an MA in theology, and then attended Brasenose College, Oxford to work towards a D.Phil. However, he never gained his doctorate, instead going into teaching. His elder brother Tudor Parfitt is Professor of Modern Jewish Studies at the University College London. He first taught at Carmel College then went on to Colet Court, the prep school to St Paul's School, London. He was appointed headmaster at Ardenhurst School in Henley-in-Arden, before moving onto the Chigwell School's Prep school and finally in 1989 to Danes Hill School. Cancer
Cancer is a group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth with the potential to invade or spread to other parts of the body. These contrast with benign tumors, which do not spread. Possible signs and symptoms include a lump, abnormal bleeding, prolonged cough, unexplained weight loss, and a change in bowel movements. While these symptoms may indicate cancer, they can also have other causes. Over 100 types of cancers affect humans. Tobacco use is the cause of about 22% of cancer deaths. Another 10% are due to obesity, poor diet, lack of physical activity or excessive drinking of alcohol. Chigwell School is a co-educational day and boarding independent school in the English Public School (United Kingdom), public school tradition located in Chigwell, in the Epping Forest (district), Epping Forest district of Essex. Henley-in-Arden (also known as simply Henley) is a town in the Stratford-on-Avon District in Warwickshire, England. The name is a reference to the former Forest of Arden. Henley is known for its variety of historic buildings, some of which date back to medieval times, and its wide variety of preserved architectural styles. Carmel College (Oxfordshire)
Carmel College was founded in 1948 as a British, Jewish boarding school for boys, modelled on British public schools. In later years it was, to some extent, co-educational, and there were a few non-Jewish day pupils. It closed down in 1997. Carmel College alumni are known as "Old Carmelis"; in 1973 the school was referred to as the "Jewish Eton" by ''The Observer'' correspondent, Chaim Bermant. History and General Information The school was founded in 1948 by Rabbi Dr Yaacov Kopul Rosen; "there were about 25 pupils."
