Roberto Olabe (footballer, Born 1967)
Roberto Olabe Aranzábal (born 20 October 1967) is a Spanish former football goalkeeper and manager. Playing career Born in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Basque Country, Olabe enjoyed a ten-year senior career. His professional input consisted of 35 Segunda División games with UD Salamanca, and two in La Liga with Real Sociedad. Olabe made his debut in the Spanish top flight on 15 October 1995, starting in a 1–2 home loss against CP Mérida. During his four-year tenure at the Anoeta Stadium, he played second-fiddle to Alberto. Coaching career Olabe retired in June 1999, at not yet 32. He was immediately appointed coach of Real Sociedad's youths. Late into the 2001–02 season, Olabe replaced the fired John Toshack at the helm of the first team, going on to avoid team relegation after collecting five wins and two draws from nine matches. CP Mérida
Club Polideportivo Mérida was a Spanish football team based in Mérida, in the autonomous community of Extremadura. Having played twice in La Liga ( 1995–96 and 1997–98), the club was dissolved in 2000, due to serious economic debts. Its successor was renamed Mérida UD. History The team founded in 1912 under the name Sportiva Emeritense. It became one of the first teams from Extremadura to play professional football. The club first began playing football in 1943, when it was admitted to Tercera Division. They spent four years there, after which the team was relegated to regional leagues for two years. Jesús María Zamora Ansorena (born 1 January 1955) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Born in Rentería, Gipuzkoa, Zamora played his entire professional career with local club Real Sociedad. After a slow 1974–75 (nine games) he went on to make a further 446 La Liga appearances in the next 14 years, being an instrumental figure alongside the likes of namesake Jesús María Satrústegui. John Toshack
John Benjamin Toshack (born 22 March 1949) is a Welsh former professional football player and manager. He began his playing career as a teenager with his hometown club Cardiff City, becoming the youngest player to make an appearance for the side when he made his debut in 1965. After establishing himself in the first-team, he went on to make over 200 appearances and scored 100 goals in all competitions after forming a striking partnership with Brian Clark. In 1970, he joined First Division side Liverpool, where he formed a noted forward partnership with Kevin Keegan and Steve Heighway that helped the club to win two league titles, the European Cup, the UEFA Cup on two occasions, the FA Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. The 2001–02 La Liga season, the 71st since its establishment, started on 25 August 2001 and finished on 11 May 2002. As of 2022, this is the last season that neither Barcelona or Real Madrid placed among the top two in the league table.
