Roberto Ciambetti
Roberto Ciambetti (born 3 July 1965 in Sandrigo) is a Venetian nationalism, Venetist politician from Veneto, Italy. A member of Liga Veneta–Lega Nord, Ciambetti was secretary of the party from 2003 to 2007 in the province of Vicenza. Having been elected to the Regional Council of Veneto in 2005 Venetian regional election, 2005, Ciambetti became floor leader of the party in 2008. Re-elected in 2010 Venetian regional election, 2010, he was appointed regional minister of Budget and Local Government in Luca Zaia's Zaia I Government, first government and, in that position, became one of the closest allies of Zaia. Re-elected for a third term in 2015 Venetian regional election, 2015, Ciambetti was elected President of the Regional Council of Veneto by a bipartisan vote. Re-elected for a fourth term in 2020 Venetian regional election, 2020, Ciambetti was also re-elected President of the Regional Council. Venetian nationalism (also Venetism, from the Venetian/Italian name, ''venetismo'') is a nationalist, but primarily regionalist, political movement active mostly in Veneto, Italy, as well as in other parts of the former Republic of Venice. Generally speaking, Venetists promote the distinct Venetian identity and the rediscovery of the Republic of Venice's heritage, traditions, culture, and language and/or demand more autonomy or even independence for Veneto from Italy. 2020 Venetian Regional Election
The 2020 Venetian regional election took place in Veneto on 20 and 21 September 2020. Originally scheduled to take place on 31 May 2020, it was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic in Italy and was part of a round of multiple regional elections in Italy (7 regions out of 20). Venetian voters elected their President and their Regional Council, composed of 51 members including the President. Luca Zaia, the second-term incumbent President and leading member of the League, was re-elected by a record 76.8% of the vote, the highest tally for a regional President in Italy. The runner-up, Arturo Lorenzoni, backed mainly by the Democratic Party, won 15.7% of the vote. Regarding parties results, the League ran in this election presenting two lists: the official League list and a list named after Zaia. Combined, the two lists won 61.5% of the vote. 2015 Venetian Regional Election
The Venetian regional election of 2015 took place in Veneto on 31 May 2015, as part of a big round of regional elections in Italy. Venetian voters elected their President and their Regional Council, whose members had been reduced to 51, including the President. Luca Zaia, incumbent President (elected in 2010 with 60.2% of the vote) and leading member of the Northern League (LN), was re-elected by a reduced majority, due to a split occurred within his party in the run-up of the election, but, despite this, his victory over Alessandra Moretti of the Democratic Party (PD), who fared quite badly, was still a landslide: 50.1% to 22.7%. The election was a personal triumph for Zaia, who was the most voted President among the seven elected on 31 May. Luca Zaia
Luca Zaia (born 27 March 1968) is a Venetian and Venetist politician, who has been President of Veneto since 2010. Prior to that, Zaia was President of the Province of Treviso from 1998 to 2005, Vice President of Veneto from 2005 to 2008 and Minister of Agriculture in Silvio Berlusconi's fourth cabinet from 2008 to 2010.
