Roberta Anastase
Roberta Alma Anastase (; born 27 March 1976 in Ploiești, Socialist Republic of Romania, Romania) is a Romanian politician and former first female President of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania, President of Chamber of Deputies of Romania, the Chamber of Deputies of Romania between 19 December 2008 and 3 July 2012. She was a member of the Democratic Liberal Party (Romania), Democratic Liberal Party (PDL), affiliated to the European People's Party–European Democrats, and became an Member of the European Parliament, MEP on 1 January 2007 with the accession of Romania to the European Union. She also represented Romania at the 1996 Miss Universe competition. The Social Liberal Union ( ro, Uniunea Social Liberală, USL) was a grand coalition of several political parties in Romania. The alliance contained two major centre-left and centre-right parties, more specifically the Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the National Liberal Party (PNL). The Social Democratic Party ( ro, Partidul Social Democrat, PSD) is the largest social democratic political party in Romania and also the largest overall political party in the country, aside from European Parliament level, where it is the second largest by total number of MEPs, after the National Liberal Party (PNL).
