Robert Weiner Jr.
Robert Weiner Jr. (born February 22, 1982) is an international water polo player from the United States, who played for the University of Southern California from 2000 to 2003, and at Newport Harbor High School from 1996 to 1999. As a High School senior he was an All-CIF player leading his team to the CIF Semi Finals and a 24–3 season record. In 2003, Weiner was a member of the 2003 NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship team. Received 2003 USC Coaches Senior Award. At USC, he majored in International Relations with a minor in Global Communications. In 2014 he graduated with a Masters in Business Administration at USC. Water Polo
Water polo is a competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one goalkeeper. Excluding the goalkeeper, players participate in both offensive and defensive roles. It is typically played in an all-deep pool where players cannot touch the bottom. A game consists mainly of the players swimming to move about the pool, treading water (mainly using the eggbeater kick), passing the ball, and shooting at the goal. Teamwork, tactical thinking and awareness are also highly important aspects. Water polo is a highly physical and demanding sport and has frequently been cited as one of the most difficult to play. UNSW Wests Magpies
The University of New South Wales Wests Water Polo Club is an Australian club water polo team that competes in the Australian National Water Polo League, National Water Polo League. There is a men's team based at Ashfield, New South Wales, Ashfield and a women's team based at the University of New South Wales. Their men's team is known as the 'Magpies' and their women's team is known as the 'Killer Whales'. This was as a result of merger between the more women's based UNSW Killer Whales club and the more men's based Wests Magpies club. The merger started in 2009 and was officially completed (as we see it today) in 2013. The Wests Magpies men's national league team were formally known as the West Sydney Sea Hawks from 1997-2001, before adopting the name 'Magpies'. The club won the women's national league in 2018. NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship
The NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship is an annual tournament to determine the national champion of NCAA men's collegiate water polo. Beginning in 1969, it has been held every year except 2020, when it was postponed to March 2021 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. With a limited number of NCAA water polo programs at the national level, all men's teams, whether from Division I, Division II, or Division III, are eligible to compete each year in the National Collegiate tournament. The tournament was expanded from a four-team bracket in 2013 by adding two play-in games that are contested by the bottom four seeds, effectively creating a six-team bracket with a first-round bye for the top two teams.
